Cashman on 1 vs. 100 cancellation

"Bummer," says quiz show host.

The host of Xbox Live quiz game 1 vs. 100 has given his reaction to the news there will be no season 3.

"Yeah... Bummer," he told Giant Bomb. "I certainly hope to get a chance to play with Xbox again, but I have no idea what it's up to next... The Live platform is so cool and the streaming content is just way ahead of the curve, so I gotta assume it's all a part of a bigger picture. I'm sure they are plotting something rad," said Cashman.

"As for how I'm taking the news of 1 vs. 100 going away? Well... I've always been dramatic," he added, referring to his YouTube response to the news.

1 vs. 100 launched in the UK a year ago. It let you answer questions and win stuff from the comfort of your own home, but now you'll have to settle for Foxy Bingo instead.

It was a good laugh , but by no means a deal breaker for me.

Wait a second, host? The shrill tart would always say 'and now over to our live host' and you'd get another avatar sitting above the studio making the same talking animation but with no sound coming out.

Also, is Foxy Bingo like Foxy Boxing?*

*I know it's not... and thank goodness, given the swamp hags you see coming out of your local Mecca

I'm quite disappointed. Didnt expect to like it when it was announced, but I loved it. It was like Buzz on PS3 but with a bigger audience and real prizes... what's not to like?

Not at all cragtek, some of us had a lot of fun on it. It was hilarious playing it in a party/with guests locally.

@metalangel - You only got the hosts voice when you were playing in a Live show, which were only on for about an hour a week, all the other shows weren't "live" so the host wasn't actually there. This guy wasn't the host in the UK anyway, he was the American host, our host was the brother of one of the idiots from Dick and Dom I don't know which.

It was a good idea, flying on the coat tails of tv game shows and episodic content. Both have fallen out of favour of late.

Stupid of MS to bin it, especially when its the type of game casual gamers (the same crowd they are pushing Kinect at), would more than likely go for, also because of its social aspects.

What spoiled it was MS being stingy on prizes. They should have made it more worth our while to play, giving away consoles, tvs etc. The chances of winning looked more bleak as you played though.

@SHPanda: I think I played maybe two games with a live host, and it certainly wasn't for lack of trying to find one! It's a shame the program was so inflexible that they still cut to the host segment even if there wasn't one there.

@SpaceMonkey: Unless you got in the Mob, you were basically playing for achievements and stats (and I know, stats affected your chances of Mob-dom). And in the crowd, you were always faced with at least a dozen savants who'd correctly answer every question within 0.1 seconds of the answer popping up, meaning you'd have little chance of winning any of the prizes for being in the top 3. Don't get me wrong, I still had a great time playing it, but going in expecting a chance of winning without playing for hours and hours is probably what put a lot of people off once the novelty was gone.

Speaking for myself and my friends, we were consistently hovering around the top 10. Several of us won prizes in S2.

I got in the top 3 of the crowd on my first go! I never managed that again...

He's got the best surname for a quiz show host ever. Unless it's not really his surname, and just his quiz show superhero alter-ego.

So it sounds like those that played it had fun, but nobody worked out how to make money from that. Shame really.

Really disappointed to hear this. It was by no means perfect but it was a nice change and great way to have fun with your mates online.
Sometimes it's nice to do something other that shoot each other in the face.

I think there is definitely a market for an online quiz game. Needn't be a live show like this but should be able to get updated questions regularly.
Maybe have game lobbies with 10 people against each other. I never cared about winning real prizes.

Had a few goes at 1v100, it was quite good really - something different at least. Kind of validated paying for live in a way, now that just leaves us with send us a message emos, Independint show... or not if he really is dead and of course the Chobot. :)

This is IMO one of the worst decisions MS has made in the last 9 months.

Their new push is for the "casuals", right? Whenever I got to show off vidoe games to a "casual" or "casuals", I would wait for 1v100 to be on and show them that.

I did it at least 15 times. Not one single time did I get any response besides amazement, excitement, and enjoyment.

MS -- this was your hook into the casual market for XboxLive. What the hell are you thinking?

Agreed. Even my mum was excited by the idea of this.
