Capcom warns of MotoGP PC problem

Patch on the way in the next few days.

Capcom has issued a statement confirming there's a problem with the PC version of MotoGP 08.

"This issue only happens when installing the game to a custom location on a hard drive," the statement reads.

"This issue does not affect the default installation, as it only occurs when the destination location has been changed."

So, it's easy to avoid the problem. When the InstallShield Wizard asks you to "Choose Destination Location", select "Next" to accept the default directory. If you select "Change", you'll be in all sorts of trouble. Though Capcom isn't saying what kind exactly.

If that's no good to you, why not wait for the patch that will fix the problem? It's out in "the next few days", according to the Capcom statement, which concludes, "We regret any inconvenience this may have caused our MotoGP community."

    And this didn't get picked up in QA? Bodes well for the game itself then... :)

    @ blender

    I'm sure it is pretty important news for the people who are having trouble with the game.

    I'm glad I didn't buy the PC version then because all my games stuff is installed to a custom location namely D:\Games\ because my D partition is specifically for games. Keeps everything nice and tidy that way.

    ^^ haha

    Seems quite a major problem...very odd how this could be overlooked.
    I am still awaiting reviews for this title, but will prob get in on 360 if any platform.

    The 360 version of MotoGP 08 is good but perhaps not as polished or as much fun as last year's game though on reflection. The presentation is very dry, the atmosphere is a bit lacking and overall this is a very serious game missing the fun arcade mode and tracks from the previous three MotoGP games. The graphics are also a bit glitchy with some strange looking artifacts appearing from time to time, particularly in the replays where you get dark polygons showing intermittently at the bottom of the screen. It's the same issue that SBK 08 had actually. The game itself plays fine though, on the arcade handling it's easier to get into then the older games and it uses the triggers by default for accelerate and brake, but it does seem a bit lacking in excitement... maybe that's a fault of me playing too much Midnight Club: L.A. though as racing games don't come much more thrilling than that game!

    Wasn't that impressed with MotoGP 08, not as good as THQ's MotoGP games. I take it Capcom have exclusive rights now?

    One positive is you no longer fall off with every slight touch of another bike, but overall I don't think it's as good as the early games. MotoGP: URT 2 on the Xbox is still the best one IMO.

    and yeah, this;

    It might not interest you blender, but doesn't mean EG shouldn't report it. I had this very problem earlier today.
