Capcom still pushing for HD Remix on PSN

Report suggests it's stuck in Sony QA loop.

Capcom has reiterated that it still plans to release Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for PlayStation Network in Europe after a report suggested the game was going round in circles between the publisher and Sony QA.

ThePSN quoted Capcom spokesperson Leo Tan, who reportedly said the game was going back and forth due to "faults and other problems", and that the publisher was hoping to submit a new version "within three weeks".

However, Tan told Eurogamer this morning that he didn't speak to the site in question, and issued the following statement: "We are keen to release Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on PSN in Europe as soon as we possibly can."

HD Remix was originally released for Xbox 360 in Europe in late November, and has been available on PSN in the States since then as well, but the game has been conspicuously absent from the European store ever since.

Which is a shame, because it's wicked.

if it's been out everywhere else but europe then is it a localisation problem? Or what?! strange
  • Moonprince #2 3 years ago

I would appreciate it if eurogamer could put the blowtorch to Capcom over this issue. Its fucking annoying havign to wait, again, for no good reason.

    Think about it...
  • MasterNameless #3 3 years ago

Yup, can't be localisation as it's already out in Europe on the 360. Just Sony being a pain in the arse as usual probably.

If SFIV is out I really don't care about this anymore. Which is only about 3 weeks as well if I'm correct.
  • Santino #5 3 years ago

i'll probably pass on this now, will be playing 4 before this comes out and i have had it on the 360 for ages, was planning to double dip as well. would be nice if it came out with a discounted price or something.
  • Duckula #6 3 years ago

The PSN is a fucking disgrace.

Complete lack of DLC for popular titles (I know this is a money thing but still it's fucking shit). Multiformat demos always come later. Complete lack of support on the SCEE end for the PSone classics.
  • nickthegun #7 3 years ago

I was going to get it with a US account but the shits have clamped down on using entropay.
  • BulletTheory05 #8 3 years ago

Have any of you even played SF II HD Remix?

If you have, you'd KNOW that the title is BUGGY AS ****! 100% crashes, network problems ALL of the time, hell, there's even debug code still left in the game! My mate last night couldn't even play on SINGLE PLAYER TRAINING MODE because a bug simply wouldn't let him. It's awful.

It's good that SCEE won't let the title go out in the state that it is in, good on them for doing their job properly. It's a shame Capcom/Backbone didn't!
  • Moonprince #9 3 years ago

  • nickthegun #10 3 years ago

I have played it quite extensively on my mates PS3 and it hasnt crashed once.

I havent heard him complain about the online mode either and he plays quite a lot.
  • chessboxer #11 3 years ago

All I have read on the net from people is that the game is bugged. If they can't fix it, don't release it.
  • Machetazo #12 3 years ago

If there are major bugs being reported from people who own the US version, and complainant's on official (and other) message boards, with the opportunity that those are cleaned up, and the game is thus better, and more enjoyable when it releases...Why settle for some flawed version?

It is scandalous that this game has been delayed on the Europe PSN store.

I would very much like to know _exactly_ what is casuing the delay, either SCEE or Capcom or a bit of both. There must be a single reason why it can be everywhere except Europe and either SCEE are being unreasonably asking for a fix when nobody else gets it, or Capcom are being stubborn by not providing a fix.

Somebody knows the real story and I want to hear it.

That being said, nothing that comes out about this story will change the fact that SCEE lost my sale. Roughly 3 weeks ago I gave up. Properly gave up on ever getting this game from Sony whilst living in Europe. If, or when, it does get released, I will have sated my desire to play Street Fighter on my PS3 by playing SFIV. The HD Remix can rot in digital hell on SCEE servers forever.

  • Brianstorm #14 3 years ago

The game is broken and SF4 is weeks away, no loss as far as I'm concerned.
  • muscleblade #15 3 years ago

My personal 2008 GOTY. I feel sorry for PS3 owning SF fans. I dont get why SONY dont take better care of their European customers. Thankfully this is never an issue with Microsoft. Even though SFIV is just around the corner i wouldnt dismiss this even if it comes out after that game because even though i know i am going to love SFIV, SSF2HDR is the definitive SF2 version imo and nothing beats that.
  • andijames #16 3 years ago

I'd of liked it to of been out sooner but if it's not getting past QC for whatever reason then TBH i rather it come out and be bug free than released early and bug ridden like a lot of games seem to be these days.
  • muscleblade #17 3 years ago

"The game is broken and SF4 is weeks away"

What do you mean by broken. It both plays and looks perfect on XBLA. Best fighter to date.
  • NKSR #18 3 years ago

you can pick this up from hong kong psn for under 7quid, i did

and yes uk credit/debit cards work
  • Machetazo #19 3 years ago

It's irrelevant how it plays on Live Arcade. This is all about the Sony versions. (the ones that didn't benefit in the least, from a pre-release beta test, designed to strengthen/optimise the netcode) - kthxbai.

I genuinely feel for euro PS3 only owners, it really is a awesome game and it's terrible they've been treated like this. Still SF4 in a few weeks guys!
  • optimusprym8 #21 3 years ago

free code in PS3 SFIV will make up for it.
  • YobRenoops #22 3 years ago

For gods sake. All this pathetic SCEE-hating invective from people that know a sum-total of fuck all.

ITS NOT SCEE ITS FUCKING CAPCOM

The netcode is broken (check the forums from the US, its knackered) and there's glitches all over the shop. I've played the US release and it is fucked. So stop all this bollocks. Just because SCEE have more stringent standards (and don't want anymore bitching I'm sure) and SCEA release now patch later (look at the SOCOM release. Its only mostly stable now its hit ver 1.30) doesn't mean that the sky is falling and we should all burn our PS3s in front of fucking SCEE headquarters like irate, reactionary little fanboy fuckwits you are. Now chill the bollocks out and go shout at Capcom.

    Shits sake....

p.s. Oh and EG stop fucking fanning the fanboy flames by implying its SCEEs fault and go and fucking ask them directly what the problem is. Do some work and stop posting bloody rumours.

    @YobRenoops

Im sure SCEE appreciate that you defend them in such an agressive incredibly childish way. Even if your right this isnt the way to go. No matter whos fault it is Capcom (Back bone) gave me a fantasic game. So i love them.

Do they? What do put as your billing address?
  • Rash' #25 3 years ago

Can't really blame Yob for losing his rag. A bunch of guys that openly admit they know nothing proceed to point accusing fingers willy nilly. I mean what can SCEE do? Coming out and saying it's Capcom's netcode would damage business relations so it's up to Capcom to clarify the situation as it is their game. Seems to me the dev thought they could cash in earlier and patch up later. Still doesn't explain why the rest of the world gets the PS3 version and we don't.

Personally i couldn't care less. I want SFIV.

i bought from my usa account.all you have to do is to go to e-bay,buy a pre paid psn card and then you are free to buy whatever you want from the usa store.and its fast.they send you the code with e-mail in under one hou
r.!also the game is not buggy.not for me anyway.the only thing i notised it doesnt recognise the perfects on single player!

  • YobRenoops #28 3 years ago

    @muscleblade

Thanks for the condescension. Much appreciated.

My point wasn't to defend SCEE but to deflect the fanboy invective at Capcom (Backbone). Yes they may have created a great 360 game (and it does help that Microsoft have a very unified Networking structure which is a definite bonus for the 360) for you but they haven't achieved that for the PS3. And my overly agressive tone (which was tongue in cheek) was set by frustration at the same old fanboy rubbish. So the way to go is to make sure this is all directed at Capcom (Backbone) to submit a game that will pass the QA not the usual SCEE bashing because its not their fault.

I've glad you love them, because many PS3 owners don't
  • Fodder #29 3 years ago

Not noticing perfects is a bit rubbish, but the bug I'd most like to see fixed (other than network problems) is remixed Zangief's super, which only works when you do the input in one direction (and it doesn't flip when you're facing left like every other move in the game).

Edit: Actually, the way it randomly forgets my button mappings would be nice to have fixed too.

GOTY 2008 for me too, even if I've had to play it on the 360 pad.
  • mingster #31 3 years ago

Dont know what you lot are on about.
We signed up with a US PSN account and bought it before xmas with $20 code obtained from ebay.
The game is not buggy. The net code works fine. Weve played hudreds of games against everywhere in the world and it worked a treat.
We are based in the UK and most games where propbably against people in the US. 99% of the time with no lag.
The delay is due to getting EU/UK servers up and running with lag free netcode.
Don't believe any of the rubbish about it being bugged its all bullshit from sony haters.
  • Findus #32 3 years ago

With the game supposedly being resubmitted, does this mean that it falls under the rules where games submitted in 09 have to now include trophies?

If so could this also be causing the delays as Capcom integrate these into the Scee version?

  • dazrichards #33 3 years ago

I suppose there is nothing wrong in downloading it from the US Store right? Was thinking about doing this with Cuboid and Lumines
  • toy_brain #34 3 years ago

"you can pick this up from hong kong psn for under 7quid, i did

and yes uk credit/debit cards work"

"Do they? What do put as your billing address? "

    Anything really. It doesn't check.
I put down 4 Acacier Road, and selected Aberdeen as the city/region. (thats me mis-remembering Bananaman's address :p).

    Bought Lumines Supernova no problem.

All you need is a spare e-mail address to register.
  • NKSR #35 3 years ago

i used 123 bruce lee street, kowloong (sp?) works fine
  • chessboxer #36 3 years ago

    @ Findus

I doubt it as HD Remix was "finished" and released before 2008 ended. The only "problem" is that SCEE are tighter on what they will and will not accept as being decent code.

Capcom are supposed to be patching Bionic Commando: Rearmed with Trophies and that came out how many months ago?

As far as I know, Flower won't have Trophies either (but I could be wrong on that).
  • cherryuk #37 3 years ago

Do what all SF fans do download it at the HK store using another account - where you can pay for it with a UK credit card - it's only £7 - I did it weeks ago and never looked back
  • muscleblade #38 3 years ago

    @YobRenoops

I understand my friend. Maybe Capcom should consentrate on the 360 from now on.
Japanese people wouldnt like that i guess.

    @ cheeseboxer

Cheers for that I just thought that if was thrown back to Capcom then the game would have to be re-submitted and the whole QA started again.

Would this be classed as a new game for submission?

Would Capcom have to use the guidelines as they are at the time?

I've got a 360 - But havn't bothered downloading it - I figure why pay a tenner for the game now then pay another thirty quid when street fighter 4 is released? I can spend the cash on another game then get to the full release once it comes in?
  • Eighthours #43 3 years ago

Sony showing its usual love for Europe here, I see! SFIV is out in under a month, so HD Remix is in danger of being irrelevant by the time it's finally released here. :(
  • muscleblade #44 3 years ago

"does this mean that it falls under the rules where games submitted in 09 have to now include trophies? "

I got all the achievements in the 360 version without any trouble. Perfectly balanced achievements imo.
  • muscleblade #45 3 years ago

    @IronCladChicken

SSF2THDR and SFIV is two different games. Of course you should buy both.
  • menage #46 3 years ago

    @Muscleblade

I tend to disagree, I only need so many fighters a year. And that certainly goes for the same series.

  • PrivateJoker #47 3 years ago

'Nick the gun' "I was going to get it with a US account but the shits have clamped down on using entropay".

Still using Entropay for US PSN, I think the problem with it is for recent subscribers, but ive had an Entropay account for 10 months now and recently got Lumines and Jeanne D'Arc by loading my card and adding the funds to psn like normal. I usually get something off there every month or so.
  • Moonprince #48 3 years ago

  • FenderMaster #50 3 years ago

got the us version back in november using a fake US adress andIrish credt card, so whats the problem? Online is very prone to disconnects though, so it may be better to wait for the EU version if its being fixed
  • BulletTheory05 #51 3 years ago

Some people on here have not got a fucking clue. Seriously.
  • septimus #52 3 years ago

Got it on the 360 but it is unplayable with the standard pad. Really not sure if I can be assed to get a pad just for this game.
  • hyperkineticninja #53 3 years ago

SCEE are very differnt to SCEA.

They will keep a game off the shelves if it contains minor things such as error messages that are not word for word what they want. SCEA do not care about this. So I do not believe it to be a localisation issue as there is not much localisation to be done in a SF title, plus its already on the US store. Which again would have gone through SCEA not SCEE.
  • mingster #54 3 years ago

So many people posting total mistruth and FUD.
On PSN SF does not play peer to peer and is not prone to 'Hosting Issues' it uses dedicated servers.
Thats why i think one of the reasons for the delay is sorting out EU servers to host from.
Also haven't had many lag problems playing from UK to US because of this its pretty much the best netcode/speed for any mutiplayer Net fighting game ever.
It is perfectly playable with the PS3 pad and i even find it as easy using Analogue controls to do the moves!
Blasphamy i know but they still work.
  • strelok #55 3 years ago

On PSN SF does not play peer to peer and is not prone to 'Hosting Issues' it uses dedicated servers.

That would be a FIRST for a 2-players game in the history of gaming.
    If it was true...

  • drxym #56 3 years ago

The moral here to publishers is this. Write your game with localisation in mind from the start. Don't produce a version with hardcoded US English and then suddenly discover that you're screwed in Europe because its your own damn fault. Localisation isn't hard to do and the PS3 surely makes it relatively straightforward assuming you bother to use the proper system APIs.
  • Mattattattatt #57 3 years ago

I'm gonna get this game... I'd rather they fix it first though... I can wait a couple more months than the US for the game. It could be as simple as lower average broadband speeds in different areas to the US might influence what the EU QA see as a showstopper over here (as an example, if that were true).

The PSN is a fucking disgrace.

Complete lack of DLC for popular titles (I know this is a money thing but still it's fucking shit). Multiformat demos always come later. Complete lack of support on the SCEE end for the PSone classics.

You must have something wrong with your Internet connection then... there's loads of DLC for popular titles (LBP, Far Cry 2, Mirror's Edge, Burnout Paradise to name but a few). It's not always the case the multiformat demos come out later on the PSN store and I'm not sure what "support" you expect for PSOne classics... they all play perfectly well on my machine (as do all my original PS1 and PS2 discs).
