Capcom quiet on Lost Planet Colonies News

Capcom US has seemingly acknowledged that a PC and 360 game called Lost Planet Colonies is being prepared.

The game has now shown up on the websites for a couple of ratings boards, including the US ESRB, and the publisher told IGN to "stay tuned".

Capcom Europe said it couldn't comment.

There's no word on what exactly it is yet, but speculation that it's a sequel - perhaps to be unveiled at GDC - is rife.

More likely is that it's just a special edition that does what the upcoming PS3 release does - rounding up all the available DLC and patches - but it sounds like we will have to wait and see.

The PS3 version of Lost Planet is due out here on 29th February.

I had assumed that it was just an update of the original as Gameplay have had this on their coming soon list for ages.

Nothing wrong with snow, made the game look unique. If it is a sequel though, maybe the planet (was it EDNIII?) will have been fully terraformed and other terrains will show up like jungles and deserts. That would be interesting.

I never bought Lost Planet for the 360 but I've pre-ordered the PS3 version since it's only Ł25 online and includes all the bonus content from the 360 Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the extra characters for the PC version. At that price it's definitely worth the risk buying.

P.S. If Lost Planet Colonies was the same game as the PS3 (i.e. with extra content included), wouldn't the PS3 version also be called by that name?

Capcom don't seem interested in that game anymore as they aren't even making the sequel, it's been farmed out to some as-yet-unnamed US developer.
