It seems to affect the Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo part of the puzzle bundle primarily, freezing the game within a few minutes of starting. We managed a couple of rounds with our European promo copy before it locked up on a load-screen.

And the 3.30 bug is 'similar'. Does that make it a gamebreaker too?

The disc has a copy of 3.40 firmware on it, which - judging by that Capcom blog post - works fine. But it sounds like if you're a step behind or ahead, you're screwed. Still waiting to hear back from Capcom UK about any plans for a fix.

3.40 is fine, yes. Since it wouldn't work on my 3.50 PSP, I dug out my copy of Lumines and downgraded. Hooray for the hackers.

Nice enough port of the game, though at least one bit of music doesn't loop right, which is slightly sloppy. I'd have prefered an option to keep the aspect ratio 4:3 as well, as the stretched graphics are a bit unpleasant to my eyes. Still, it's Puzzle Fighter, which is more or less the best game of its kind ever.

When it comes to the point that a new firmware breaks games, it's time to cut the crap and just stop it.

Unfortunately, Firmware 3.40 still poses problems for all the games in the collection. I have had Puzzle Fighter shut down my PSP randomly on two occasions. Also, using personalised photos for Buster Bros. 1 also locks the game up completely after moving to a different level.

How Capcom could justify releasing this game in this state is beyond me. Considering the Euro version was delayed for months on end, I'd have thought they sorted out the issue by the time this was released. Disgusting.

Get the CP1 emulator - Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo II rom works perfectly.
You can adjust the aspect ratio to however you want it.
No music loop bug either.

you just need open firware edition.

All of this firmware garbage is just fuelling support for the open editions.

I had a go with the eLoader back when I was playing GTA: LCS regularly - but I've not installed 3.4OE, or whichever version I downloaded a couple of months back.

I'm still on official firmware, waiting for the moment to leap...

...this doesn't give me much faith in the official firmware! I read the review and was considering this title, as I'd never played puzzle fighter before.

I'll give it a miss now, or go for the arcade emulation soon... I just want to make sure I'll be able to play God Of War with the Open firmware installed.

I don't trust the sneaky buggers not to throw a spanner in the works, even if it only delays the OE users for a number of weeks... Dark Alex apparently isn't coding PSP firmware anymore either.

IT'S NOT JUST PUZZLE FIGHTER THAT FREEZES.
All the other games in the pack have the same issue as well (including the extras).
The PSP actually turns itself off after the freeze as well.
WHY WAS THIS GAME RELEASED IN THIS STATE,its shocking.

Calling this a "bug" is an understatement.I'd just call it an NON WORKING GAME.
I thought there was something wrong with my PSP at first,a quick search with google proved otherwise.Did they not think anybody would notice that the game DOES NOT WORK.

Quick update... the game works fine on the new 3.52 firmware.

As the previous poster has stated, it looks as though Sony have sorted the firmware problem that was causing this crash with the 3.52 firmware release.
We're sorry for any inconvenience to Puzzle World owners while they waited for this firmware to come out.

I bought the US version hearing the issue was resolved with the latest firmware update, but it's not... Does this mean I'll only be able to play the EU version on a EU PSP with the latest firmware or what?

The latest firmware has brought this problem back.
