Cammy included in Street Fighter IV

Won public vote, apparently. Go girl.

Capcom plans to include Cammy in the Street Fighter IV console versions in response to a public vote.

"As you know, we allowed people to vote on which character they most wanted to see in the console version, and Cammy won, so she's definitely in the game," SF IV producer Yoshinori Ono told 1UP.

"We have a rough version of her already up and running. Akuma came in second or third, and we've already included him in the arcade game," he added.

Street Fighter IV is out now in Japanese arcades, and seems to have won a good few people over, but PS3 and 360 versions are still in development and expected next year.

We flew over to Las Vegas recently to check on the game's progress at Capcom's annual press day, and spoke to Ono about the console versions, boss character Seth and other aspects of the game. Brush past the blue words for more on the game, and look out for more from Ono when we write up our GC interview.

We would also like to take this opportunity to scold Capcom for doing what people shouting on the internet said. That way lies madness, Capcom.

    I think they should put 'rough cammy' in. Nose piercing, shaved head, smouldering dog-end, vomit stained vest and all.

    Yeah, it was always going to be the most scantily clad woman not already in the game. No doubt Sakura came in second.

    Does anyone actually like playing as Cammy, or was it just the bare asscheeks factor that got her in?

    always liked playing as cammy so welcome news to me - and that was for her playstyle not just costume as tended to use her in cammo toursers

    I'm surprised she wasn't a dead cert, heck, Cammy has never been disliked by anyone! The fact that most will admit Cammy was the highlight of the awful movie goes a long way to prove that she is probably one of the more popular characters in the series anyway. She gets a lot of love in all braches of the SF franchise, whereas many characters do not.

    So why the hell leave her out to a public vote? That's madness Capcom. Sheer lunacy. You could have left that spot for another character that may have needed it more. Give people the choice and of course they were going to vote for Cammy. She's sexy, a secret agent and she wraps her legs around people with reckless abandon.

    This makes no sense to me. Sorry. Leaving one of the more popular characters to a public vote and looking surprised said popular character wins the popular vote...

    edit; Dan is one of the characters that can die a horrible nasty painful death. Sakura is the other. Sakura we'll never be rid of, seeing as she's dressed like a schoolgirl and that appeals to some pervy old men. Dan, on the other hand, has handled like shit and wears a pink get-up. Stick him in as a secret zombie in a Resi game that I can empty my guns into and I may appreciate his horribleness, but until then, I won't miss him.

    I'm not a huge cammy fan in SFII game terms,

    but a lot of the character art, plus the amnesiac assassin story does make for a good character.

    Back when I tried to get into StreetFighter (I've always been more of an SNK fan really), I forced myself to learn Cammy; partly due to the sexy bum, partly due to her being the token Brit, but mostly because all the other characters were either dull (Ken, Ryu) or freakshows (everyone else except Chun-Li).
    At first she seemed really odd - totally the opposite of what would make a decent SF character. No fireballs for a start, and at least one of her moves I've never found a practical use for. But her Cannon Drill is good for punishing fireball-spammers, and her basic set of punches and kicks are well-rounded for low-level players like myself.

    Never did understand why she wasn't automatically included in SF4 given how popular she was in the comics, with Capcom instead deciding to grab Vanessa from KoF, tart her up a bit and change her name to C-Viper :p

    thats good news i think fei long is a great addition.
    Dan despite the great name was a bit crap to be honest!
    i would still like to see some old school brawlers turn up like Mike Hagger, Soddom, Guy, Coddy, Gen, eagle, Addon and Birdie.
    its a bit of a tall order i know but i grew up with these characters and i feel these where the days when capcom did the best characters i love final fight and streetfighter 1!
    i know they were in Alpha but they could still come back in 4!
    dont like Cammy and not too keen on the new ones to be honest.

    good old skullo... I remember getting a broken nose after a halloween plarty where i dresesd as skullo...

    I doubt SF4 will resurrect the 2D one-on-one fighting genre. And rightly so, there hasn't been any real advancement since 1989.

    Cammy is cool. That swimsuit looks too tight though.
