Call of Duty finishes 2008 on top
UK Charts: Mario Kart best-selling SKU.
Call of Duty: World at War reclaimed the UK Charts summit in the last Top 40 of 2008, after losing out to FIFA 09 in the last week before Christmas.
Compiler Chart-Track is quiet on the figures involved, but Call of Duty was the biggest-selling game on both PS3 and Xbox 360, and the second-biggest on PC.
However, Mario Kart Wii and Wii Play (fourth and fifth in the All-Formats Top 40) were the best-selling individual units for the week ending 27th December, which includes the last four days before Christmas itself.
Elsewhere there was significant movement for Wii Fit, which tumbled from 10th to 33rd, perhaps due to stock issues, while Mirror's Edge yo-yoed back to 21st from 36th, just above the lurking LittleBigPlanet in 22nd.
Above them, Gears of War 2 surged to 12th from 21st, Far Cry 2 to 11th from 17th, and Sonic Unleashed to 10th from 20th. Much of the rest is familiar, although there was an impressive re-entry to 17th from Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, apparently unimpeded by its big brother, Guitar Hero: World Tour, which finished the year in 7th.
See below for the full UK All-Formats Top 40 for the week ending 27th December. Look out for the most recent week's positions tomorrow morning.
