Burnout Legendary Cars on Thursday

Just over six quid for the lot.

Criterion has said it will release the Burnout Paradise Legendary Cars pack, inspired by vehicular idols of the silver screen, on Thursday 19th February.

According to the firm's Twitter page, it will be on console only for now. Producer Matt Webster added: "PC players will need to be a little more patient. We'll announce the release data for PC Legendary Cars in the near future."

Pricing details have since been posted on the Criterion Games Network. We haven't got Burnout in the office today, so can't verify, but numerous forum posts state that the whole pack is going for GBP 6.29 / EUR 7.99.

And the cars are also on sale individually. The Back to the Future-inspired Jansen 88 Special costs GBP 3.19 / EUR 3.99, while the Carson Manhattan Spirit, GT Nighthawk and Cavalry Bootlegger will be GBP 1.59 / EUR 1.99 each.

Those appear to be the PS3 prices. We're also told to expect four more unlockable bronze Trophies on the PS3, one for each car. To avoid spoilers, details can be found by scrolling to the bottom of the bronzes on the PS3Trophies.org Burnout Paradise page. There's no word yet on equivalent Achievements for Xbox 360

Good lord, Criterion just can't stop ripping us off! A great game, lots of free extras, and now they expect me to pay for cars? I'm kidding of course, Criterion have been showing everyone else how it's done in the DLC stakes, and I don't object to those prices at all. I'll have them all for the sake of being a completist, but it's the Delorian inspired car that I want.
  • the_dudefather #2 3 years ago

All I want is the delorian and ecto 1

oh well, looks like full pack is best offer then (damn you marketing!'
  • menage #3 3 years ago

I want these. And Criterion aren't people to rip us off. But 8 euro's is just too expensive for a couple of cars. There's enough already to play around with. Don't need it.

The DLC pricing really has no clue at what something is worth imo. I don't mind paying for stuff. but why is this like 1/3rd of the full ultimate box game.

    Will be getting this!

Too expensive for me I'm afraid, especially for content that doesn't actually add anything to the game (it's not as if the Delorian actually flies... it just sorta hovers) and where there's only really two out of the four that are even interesting (who on earth thought we'd rather have the modern day KITT rather than the original!).

I'm now a bit worried about just how much Criterion are going to charge for the new island when it comes out. I'm more than happy to support them but I won't do so blindly and any DLC purchase must still be decent value for money. So far both the legendary cars and the party pack have been disappointing in that regard.

As good as they have been with the free DLC this is too expensive for what amounts to a few skins.
  • toy_brain #7 3 years ago

That is a bit pricey for what you get, but seeings as I picked up Burnout Paradise 2nd hand for £13 I feel as though Criterion havent recieved any money from me for what is an awesome game, I'm gonna stump up the cash.
That Jansen 88 just looks too awesome.

    @stepneg

Though you're mostly right, hovercar. Hover. Car. A car that hovers. As in "hover car". That has to be worth something! I'm not fussy about the others cars, due to their low hover abilities, but I'll have them anyway.
  • zarglu #9 3 years ago

Criterion has gone from free DLC that enhances gameplay to extremely expensive DLC that is purely cosmetic.
Not sure what they're trying to achieve, if the prices had been reasonnable, I would have gladly paid, but this is definetely too steep.

    @stepneg

Most aren't just skins, hitting (PS3) L3 causes some to change ala Crackdown, all I'll say is activate Pursuit mode K.I.T

Hover-freaking-cars people! HOVERCARS! Well, a hover car.
  • rhubarbandcustard #12 3 years ago

Love Burnout Paradise and will buy the island DLC when that becomes available.

But buying cars? No. Not a frigging chance.
  • Cloudane #13 3 years ago

Cars for money? No, no, no.

If they were 99p each or something that'll be cool but £6.29 for FOUR cars?

    F*ck off.
  • DFawkes #14 3 years ago

Do I really need to state the factual evidence on why you do need to support Criterion and their so far free game expanding DLC? Do I really need to tell everyone how they are provably wrong about thinking they're too expensive?

    Hovercar, case rests your honour.
  • bodypopper #15 3 years ago

Tried playing Burnout P again with the new content t'other day but I have to say that graphically it's starting to age a bit.
The cars should be free IMO - it's the sort of thing PC game modders have been churning out gratis for years.

Great Scott!!! Well I'll be picking this up then.

600 MS for all. [edit] Actually seems to be 640 MS and all the toy cars are up on marketplace too.
160 MS for most if bought individually.
    320 MS for hover car.

Microsoft have also made a cockup as the Boost Specials and Toy cars aren't meant to be available, nor is the Time Savers add-on. Get them whilst you can before they possibly remove them - to buy all 3 collections (Legendary / Toys / Boost) works out at 2040 MS, or as below, but get them quick.

    Toys
Toy Hunter Citizen - 160 MS
    Toy Jansen P12 - 160 MS
Toy Krieger WTR - 160 MS
Toy Nakamura Firehawk - 240 MS
Toy Carson Inferno Van - 160 MS
    Toy Hunter Takedown 4x4 - 160 MS
Toy Hunter Calvary - 160 MS
Toy Hunter Manhattan - 160 MS
Toy Carson GT Concept - 160 MS

    Toy Collection 1 (Calvary / Manhattan / P12 / Krieger WTR) - 480 MS
    Toy Collection 2 (Citizen / GT Concept / Inferno Van / Takedown 4x4) - 480 MS
Full Toy Collection (Contains Packs 1&2 and Nakumura Firehawk) -1000 MS

    Boost Specials
    Hawker Mech - 240 MS
Carson Extreme Hot Rod - 240 MS

Boost Specials Full Pack - 400 MS

    Plus there's also the following:
Burnout Paradise Time Savers Pack - 400 MS

Basically this unlocks all cars and bikes without having to play through the game, though to obtain your licenses you still have to play the game as normal
