Burnout 360 Cagney patch delayed again

"That is one tough lady."

Criterion has delayed the release of the Xbox 360 "Cagney" patch for Burnout Paradise.

This originally missed its 10th July launch due to Microsoft certification issues.

"We're still not able to provide a concrete date on this awesome free update. We're in the final stages of testing the revised version and will announce a concrete date as soon as we have one," developer Criterion said on the Burnout Paradise website.

"We're currently aiming for 4th August. That's the earliest we can expect it to be available."

Codename Cagney adds Marked Man, Stunt Run and Road Rage game modes to Burnout Paradise, plus the Live Page calendar for keeping track of developer-lead events. There are also new cars, liveries, 70 extra Challenges, and a heap of technical changes inside.

Criterion has struggled with Xbox 360 updates before - the "Bogart" update was pulled temporarily due to technical problems.

In both cases the PS3 updates have been unaffected and delivered without incident.

Criterion does admirably continue to add features to Burnout Paradise, though. Motorbikes, day-and-night cycles, biplanes and extra islands to explore are all planned for future updates.

It's nothing worth shouting about anyway, more of a nice tweak than the proper changes in later updates. Especially if you don't play online, but it's still annoying as it may mean the other updates will be late too.

    Paradise Lost

Not really, but I feel the need to say it everytime there's anything negative about BP said :)

Didin't they break the 360 version last time they tried to patch it. I guess this time Microsoft are actually testing the patch and it's failed.

No bugs no problems. Release a bug free product and there should not have been a delay.

these devs are PS3 biased its always been pretty clear from their interviews. They can't really be arsed with 360

Are you sure 'biased' is the right word? Surely 'specialised' is more appropriate - otherwise it sounds like you're suggesting their cutting their nose off to spite their face. Er, the face being a 360. And the nose being a patch. And the cutting being...

Ahhh, I give up. bloody analogies.

Or they could have said something like this:
"The reason for the delay of the Cagney update on XBox 360 has been due to the many improvements we have been making and the numerous features we've added to the game,"

Or maybe we should be thankful that, for once they don't try to spin it.

    @SeesThroughAll

    O.M.G.

You're F'ing right! I'm telling you, this whole spinning thing is like the bloody T-Virus!
Now how do I get rid of it (without actually having my head blown of by the Raccoon PD) ...

I could probably just delete my post, but that would be sort of spinning it too, I guess...
Feel free to put me on ignore from now on. I'll understand, I promise.

    Edit: spelling

You don't have to hate yourself though.

This is what happens when you make a quarter of your team redundant the week after they finish working on a game, then another quarter quit because you don't treat them well: you begin to miss your release dates. I really like the game, but employers like that really don't get any sympathy from me.

[/i]Codename Cagney adds Marked Man, Stunt Run and Road Rage game modes to Burnout Paradise[/i]

Am I just being stupid, or wern't those modes part of the retail game??

    ^ multiplayer.

Yes - now I know how PS3 owners feel!

    @Doctor_What

Criterion used to be bloody good employers what the frak happened since I breezed through there some 2 odd years ago!

Was it the EA thing (reason I bailed) that screwed everything?
  • kopykatt #19 4 years ago

Aldo_14 you are completly correct. If it wasn't for fanboyism we could just finally admit that the reasons for inferior versions of various games are down to developers and not hardware. If the developers lead with the 360 version then most of the time it will be the superior version and vice versa with the PS3.
  • Rash' #20 4 years ago

kopykatt, been saying that from day one. But try convincing the 360 brethrens that.

    /for the fanboys.

Didn't this dev say leading on PS3 mean't they were able to deliver a better game than if they lead on 360... (paraphrasing of course) ;o)

The new update is cool, BTW!

As tempting as it is to satirise the canons of defending delays by some false positive spin, I'll forego all 'Good, now I can finish my other games' type comments, and register my disappointment that, as a dedicated online Burnout Paradise 360 player, I won't be able to get online with the new modes for a little longer.
