Halo was good - I adored the Xbox original and Halo 2 to a lesser extent, Halo 3 was a bit rubbish IMO - but I think it's a series that should end with ODST so that Bungie can go on and make something totally new. Never did rate the online mode though but then I find most online FPS modes highly repetitive and dull anyway so that shouldn't be seen as a criticism of the game particularly.

Instead of Rare I did think about typing Free Radical. :P Anyways I think Rare could make an excellent Halo title, but I reckon EPIC will get first dibs from the Microsoft camp. Cue Gears of Homlo 4 gags followed by Homlol 4 jokes if EPIC do end up making a Halo game, followed by game of the year awards from everyone else.

It would be stupid of Bungie to make more Halo games. It doesn't make any money.

Bungie and Microsoft needs to seriously sort out their DLC practice. DLC should not be about denieing you contents that you previously had access to on the disc - you can nolonger play "Big team battle", and get access to the maps supporting that (all contents that you paid for on the retail disc) unless you invest in the additional "Legendary pack" dlc.

I really hate the way MGS push DLC like this.Dlc should always be a choice.. it shouldnt be teasing you ingame when you've just paid £40 for the game (ala fable2). It shouldnt be denieing you sections that you come across in game (ala crackdown), and it shouldnt be removing contents that you previously had access to in the game (ala Halo 3). I know no other producers that do this with their games.. yet amazingly MGS seem to get away with it.

It would be nice is a gaming site wrote an article on how DLC is pushed on you, as way of a change to DLC being removed from the disc, or DLC price points.

Blind Monkey, the whole city was available to you in Crackdown from the beginning, when they added DLC it appeared in the city as glowing circles much like the races and so on, nothing was taken away, only added. In Halo they replaced Big Team with Squad Battle in the other playlists, so what was taken was replaced with something of equal value. And what teased you in Fable? The hookers? You should just sleep with them, that’s shut them up. That or cut them up and make them into a chilli, which you can then sell on a street market stall to lots of people so that all the evidence is digested and spread across a wide area. Mmmm, brass chilli.

@Petulant_Radish - i didnt say anything was removed from crackdown. Read what i wrote, i'm talking about the way DLC is pushed upon you..with MGS's crackdown you will come across several sections ingame which you can only access if you invest in the additional dlc, like races and so on as you said. When dlc is teased all around the main game like that theres little room for ignoring it, and you're left feeling cheated that you dont have something thats on show... it would be like coming to a door in resident evil that clearly is ment to open but instead greets you with a message telling you to pay for the additional dlc. I dont want that in the main game.. i dont know games other than MGS games that practice such.

As for Halo.. in what way is removing from us Big team battle, and the maps associated with that, and offering a different game mode, something of equal value? They didnt replace Big Team Battle, as you put it, its still there..in the same place, only you're now denied access to it, and when you try to play it it tells you you must invest in the dlc.

Would you expect W@W to remove you access from the zombie game, just because they've added a variation of something else thats already on your disc? Or remove some team deathmatch maps that are on the disc, but adds a different gameplay mechanic to the other existing maps, be of greater value? Fact is, you've been locked out of contents that are on the disc.. not been given access to something additional.

The only consolation is that usually after 6months bungie does make the map packs free.. but then who knows what they will remove access to when the next packs released.

It is pretty shitty practise, to be fair.

But the pain isn't much. 800 MSP for some new brilliant maps. Job done. Yes, it's galling if you really want to make a point of it.

Say for example you took a nice lady out for dinner (just imagine!) do you think they're teasing you with the bottles of wine they have behind the bar? No, they're there so you know they're available to purchase, you have an issue with that?

As for Halo, the playlists have been changing since the game came out, was Big Team even there on launch? I can't remember to be honest, though I know there are others that are new, so they may have taken some off, but they have added others, do you really feel cheated by this? They still provide much more options that other games out there...

@Petulant_Radish - you seem to consistantly fail at understanding the point...most likely because you've lived a pointless existance. To use your "walking into a bar and seeing drinks on offer" anology and comparing it to what MGS practice with their DLC further "teases" me with your stupidity. Why does one go to a bar? One goes there to drink.. your anology is more comparable to going through the dashboard menus on xbox live and actively seeking out dlc..and then being surprised when you find it. A better drinking anology would be walking past the pub yet getting spammed with flyers for their alcholic beverage offers every corner your turn around there after.

As for the Halo playlists.. you seem to be arguing against something you lack former knowledge of (you do like to tease with that stupidity dont you). Yes, Big team battle was readily playable to all on release - which is why i've stressed several times that my whole disagreement with bugies dlc practice is that is DENIES you contents already on the disc.. had you read what you were replieing to you would of took note of that. And no, they have not added any content other than that thats already on the disc with their playlist shake ups.
If you would care to step out of your Halo fanboy bubble for a moment then you would understand that this practice of removing access to content thats on the disc (lets give you a simple example and say your game originally shipped with 12maps, and now you only have 10maps..unless you pay for the dlc and get access to the full original map list again, and supporting game mode - as in the only one that supports the most players) then maybe you could see that its hardly a fair and just way of promoting DLC.

Ofcourse you've yet to come back to me with anything intelligible, so i wont hold my breath.

I'm a big fan of their previous work (I'm playing Myth II on Linux now and it rocks!), and while I appreciate the creative genius behind Halo, I never really got into it.

If they were to do something non-FPS, I'd probably jump for joy :-)

Halo 3 has never dropped beyond being the #3 most played game on XBL since it's release, and still regularly finds itself in the #1 spot. It's far from dead.

Better than Killzone 2.

Halo 3 killed my enthusiasm for shooters entirely. It's just not right when you're praying that the end of the game is soon.

heh, I felt exactly the same way about Halo2. Havnt played Halo3 for the very same reason.
I still have very fond memories of the first Halo, and Id rather keep them than playing more of the same (althou good same).

Funny how you go on about my stupidity and lack of comprehension when you didn't get what I was saying, I said take a lady out for dinner, that is not in a bar, but in a restaurant.
