Bully for Xbox 360 and Wii

Learn more.

Rockstar plans to release Xbox 360 and Wii versions of Bully this winter, promising new content on top of the free-roaming schoolboy antics that made the PS2 version such a critical success.

Awarded a hearty 9/10 on its release as Canis Canem Edit in Europe, the game's return will be under the banner of "Bully: Scholarship Edition" in the States. Goodness knows what it will be called here. Canis Canem Edit: Liberate Tutemet Ex Inferis is our best guess. Hey - it's Friday.

And that's roughly all we know for now. There'll be "additional new content" this winter.

Whatever that ends up being, it's good news for owners of Microsoft and Nintendo's systems, as Bully's clever blend of GTA's free-roam principles, incidental humour and constant reinforcement gave Bullworth Academy a signature charm that really ought to have won it more sales than it made.

The only question for me is wether to get it on the 360 or the Wii. Never played it on the PS2 but then again I wasn't really interested in it anyway until I read the very praising reviews.
  • Cannibal #3 5 years ago

Well, it better have a major graphical over haul and a significant amount of new content if they expect me to pay 360 prices for a budget PS2 game.
  • Steroyd #4 5 years ago

Don't get the wii version it's a secret training ground on how to bully kids in real life.
  • macksed #5 5 years ago

people who can should just get it on ps2- its like 10 quid or something - and its reeaally good
  • andycroll #6 5 years ago

Great! Wanted to play this but PS2 died.

I'm going to have to find some more hours in the day to get through the upcoming 360 library. Can we hope for a budget price do you think?
  • Wayne #7 5 years ago

All these PS2 ports onto Wii always leave me wondering "Should I pay £35 for the game with Wii controls, or just get the PS2 version for £9.99"

Ports should NOT be full price in my opinion.

Free *something (Yourself maybe?)* From Hell.

I knew that Latin GCSE would be useful one day...
  • speedjack #9 5 years ago

    Its 'Save yourself from hell'.

...the only reason I know that is because I've seen Event Horizon.
  • Paleface #10 5 years ago

Yes, and it's slightly bastardized Church Latin rather than what the Romans might have spoke, as well. So it's a bit anachronistic suffixing "Canis Canem Edit" with it. Sort your ancient languages out, EG.

Indeed, we must Ban This Sick Filth immediately - it's the only way to keep the children of News of the World readers safe.
  • Machetazo #12 5 years ago

Maybe they held on to the work on the Xbox port, and that's what you'll see as the Xbox 360 version (with added graphical polish) and the Wii gets the Xbox version, with Wiimote functional minigames, like canteen FOOD FIGHT! :D
  • spliffhead #13 5 years ago

Fucking genius, Wiimote and nunchuck catapult controlls!
  • Darren #14 5 years ago

OH MY GOD! This is brilliant news... Canis Canem Edit on the PS2 was bloody brilliant in both gameplay and graphics considering the hardware it was running on. I'd definitely pick it up again for the Xbox 360, particularly if they add some new stuff to it. Bring it on!
  • bdgr #15 5 years ago

to buy on 360 with beefy graphics, or on wii with motion sensoring beatings.... the decision is far too difficult to make at the moment, but the wii might just get in front on this one.
  • fisk #16 5 years ago

I missed this on the PS2 in my frothy FFXII/God of War 2/Okami orgy.

360 or Wii version.. hmm.. HD graphics.. but then again, it's not a real murder simulator without motion sensing..

Bully didn't get extra sales because of rockstars mis-guided need to court controversy. If they had called it Canis from the beginning or indeed anything other than Bully, then the name of rockstar would have carried it to some grand sales.

As it stands and with all the publicity about bullying and suicides dut to bullying. Their choice of name was seen as nothing more than a grossly misguided attempt to cach in on that. Regardless of what anyone thinks of the quality of their games. Not one person could agree with that strategy.

I'm going to bet they play down the violence in GTA IV too as a result of their recent wake-up calls.
  • tjlazr #18 5 years ago

if they use EG's event horizon title i'll buy it
  • Cappy #19 5 years ago

Thats annoying. After finishing the PS2 version it was apparent that a lot of content near the end of the game was missing especially in the final chapter where its obvious a lot of storyline linking content had been left out.

All done presumably so they could get the PS2 version out at a set date. Now they rerelease the game with the stuff which should have been there in the first place. They could at least offer PS2 owners a budget special edition or something so those who are interested can get a version with a story that makes sense from start to finish. :-(

    @Cappy
"All done presumably so they could get the PS2 version out at a set date."
Yes. Because the other option would be to use too many resources, get a completely non releasable game, and then can it.

"Now they rerelease the game with the stuff which should have been there in the first place."
No, they released a game with content which they may have liked to have had in the original. There is a difference.
  • Cappy #21 5 years ago

Thats a mighty fine stick you've got in your arse there zuljin.

Apparently complaining about near complete chunks of a chapter getting excised and resulting in a shoddy finish to an excellent game is a no no.
  • bioreit #22 5 years ago

    Bonza!

    @ Steroyd

Haha! MothNops' riposte would no doubt be along the lines of

"I would've gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for those pesky kids..."
  • zuljin #23 5 years ago

    @cappy
For future reference, working in the games industry I get more than a little effin peeved off at the following:

    1. People that think they have a right to downloadable content.
    2. People that think games developers scale a game back, because they couldn't be bothered to finish it, or just so they can release a new "special" edition.
    3. Badgers.

From your post I put you in category 2, sorry if thats not the case.
  • spongebob #24 5 years ago

Awesome! I wanted to see Bully on X360. Just please don't ban it.
  • immateriaux #25 5 years ago

I'd buy it for the Wii, no hesitation.

[ponders] Though having it on the 360 would mean being able to keep the entire house heated whilst also playing a game .... [/ponders]

They're adding the extra content to make 360'ers & Wii'ers believe they weren't shafted by the over a whole year difference in release.

I've played this game to death, and got boring after a while. It was good, it just didn't have that lasting affect GTA had back in the day.

I adore Rockstar more than any other game developer, but, graphical improvement would not make any difference in the whole thing which made it boring in itself. It just keeps going on & on with the same drivel. Especially no reason for a higher port price. Count me out.

  • Ryze #27 5 years ago

    CALL IT BULLWORTH ACADEMY
  • Ryze #28 5 years ago

Bought - if the Wii version's not shit.
  • InternetRed #29 5 years ago

Problem is, Bully on the PS2 is around £12.99, new. Bully on the 360, will be £39.99, new. What are we getting, other than some "additional new content", and achievements, that justifies the near 3x price increase?

Well, other than not having to play it on a PS2 controller ;P
