"It worries me that some suit somewhere thought that a country music game would have sold more than a heavy metal game!"

Despite my comment about rock music selling on the other thread, country music is f*cking enormous market in the US. The only thing wrong with an exec thinking country might sell more than metal is that he/she wasn't considering a non-US market. Within the US it very well might.

Great interview. I think this is my 'most-looked-forward-to-game-of-2009'. I reckon Jack Black seems near enough perfect to the role. I'm not particularly a huge fan of his films, with the exception of School of Rock, which I love, but he has a great voice and is very charismatic. Hopefully having his voice will sell more copies of the game.

"Monkey Island's lead was originally just called "Guy" until George Lucas intervened."

But the filename for the character's animation frames was guy.brush. And thus was born Guybrush :P

Great interview. Long live The Schaf!

Coüntry Legend eh... well thats the sequel sorted.

Eddie battles against the unholy forces of country and western. Will he head bang them into submission or will their boots walk all over him?

This man is a fucking legend. And whoever decided to give Jack Black the main role should be commended, he's a perfect fit.

He stole the teeth idea from cyriax!:P

*edit* well, I just like to suck but.. come on, Psychonauts was pretty dull, bad platformer and .. well original humor sure, but good? Naaah! Also.. jack black is also enough reason to avoid anything that carries his persona like the plague. But I never liked point and click ''adventures'' anyway, don't see the 'game' in those repetitive trial and error stories. He should just stick to making funny cartoons or something.

Superb interview. A cover to cover article there.

Nice one, Johnny! Very much looking forward to Brutal Legend and any other output from the man Schafer.

No offence to Johnny, but it's funnier when you let Ellie do the interviewing. Great job anyhow!

Oh, and I'd say the teeth remind me of the mummified Edison ancestor entering the human show in Day of the Tentacle...

I LOVE all of Schafer's (and team) previous work, but I don't know about this one: I haven't seen anything to get excited about the GAME itself. I mean, Psychonauts' story and characters were fantastic, but the game's mechanics just felt as an excuse for the story, and ultimately wasn't that good.

16th of October? Is it going to be released HERE on 16th of October, or will we have to wait the length of a pregnancy like last time?

The sequel could actually be a wild west game. They seem to be "in fashion" these days.
