Brütal Legend DLC next week

Two MP maps in Tears of the Hextadon.

EA and Double Fine have announced that they'll be releasing the first downloadable content for heavy metal adventure Brütal Legend next week.

Tears of the Hextadon offers two new multiplayer maps and will appear on Xbox Live next Tuesday, 3rd November, and on PSN the following Thursday, 5th November. It will cost Xbox owners 400 Microsoft Points (£3.40 / €4.80), but it will be free to PS3 owners until 19th November, after which it will cost £3.99.

The maps for the Stage Battle mode are called Circle of Tears and Death's Fjord. You also get a free axe named Blade of Ormagöden.

"I play Brütal Legend online every night," said creator Tim Schafer in the press release. "And I need more maps! Circle of Tears is named after the crying of my vanquished foes on the battlefield, and Death's Fjord is obviously a tribute to my Nordic ancestors, and their love of fan geysers and… Well, actually I just thought the name was cool. See you online!"

We really liked Brütal Legend, but not all of you think the same way. Are you with us or against us?

Too bad the multiplayer sucks. It takes forever to win or loose and if somebody quits (they usually do) it doesnt count as a win for you. I played a ranked match and was winning when sudenly the opponent quits after 30 minutes during the match. Man i was angry. If somebody quits it should always count as a win for the other player. Come on!!! Now im angry again :-( I actually lost sleep over this.

The style story music comedy and characters of brutal legend were amazing, but the short length and terrible and i mean terrible side missions just let it down for me.
I was playing infamous the other day and was amazed at the variety of side missions, sure there all the same kinda basic shoot shit but the fact that their dressed up differently each time makes it feel fresh.
I wanted to punch my fucking tv after the 400th time i heard "hey who we gonna get on this ambush"

This was always going to be a critic's darling. The previews always seemed to show that reverence that is reserved for Tim Schafer, and you always suspected it was gonna be hard to seperate that out when it came to review time. So it proved.

As many have said the good overweighed the bad.

Yup it's short, yup PR fecked up with the rts bit (even tho as many have said the RTS bit if PR'ed correctly may have won more fans then lost).

    HOWEVER

    Great Writing
Awsome cast - even if you minus Jack the other cast members just make the game epic - hands up who just when back and two the the keeper of metal just to hear what bit you get off him next?
Delived 100% on being a true loveletter to the metalheads out there - I mean just gunning around in the Deuce with tracks playing just eats the time away.

Anywho yea the DLC out there is just for the multiplayer side however it's not to say this isn't thev end of it, heck even if we don't get any singleplayer dlc - the game just screams sequal!

Wonder if i can download it when its free and just keep it uninstalled, just in case i buy brutal legend in the future

I was hoping BL DLC would be something a bit more imaginative.

This just makes me want to trade this game, makes me think there's nothing much to look forward to after the short singleplayer game.

I will be very, very upset if this game doesn't win the "Best Soundtrack 2009" award.

I want it free for XBL marketplace as well :(.

eh... i thought the side missions were pretty fun... ok, not the death rack, or mortar missions... but the ambush missions were okay, and the race missions were fantastic!

still haven't tried the multi player, and tbh, i'm not really interested... i loved the single player campaign, but i finished it, and ALL of the side missions in under 8 hours, so i would really appreciate some new missions.. it's an amazing world, the driving mechanics are brilliant, the hack and slash/rts mechanics are pretty good, so theres alot more that could be done with the game.

also, a map showing thepositions of all the statues would be great...

^^The driving mechanics are absolute cack, I prefer running around on animals but there's no radio station.

I'm with you Eurogamer, I loved the game - I'd rather have a short but sweet game than one that drags out into a weekly dirge (Mass Effect, anyone?) of side quests and identikit landscapes. Would like to see an epilogue or extra island at some point in the DLC, instead of just more maps.

I still don't get what folks have against Jack Black being in this game. He seems pretty sweet in the role, to be fair.

I'm all over the game, but annoyed that the DLC is not free on XBL.
