Brutal Legend demo in September

Enter the Age of Metal.

EA has announced that a Brutal Legend demo will be available on 17th September for PS3 and Xbox 360.

The sampler opens as protagonist Eddie Riggs awakens in the Age of Metal: the fictitious land Tim Schafer and Double Fine have set Brutal Legend in.

You'll learn how to wield Riggs' powerful ancient axe and electrifying guitar to pull-off combos. And they will come in handy when dispensing with zipper-faced nuns and devilish druids. Eddie will meet ally Ophelia, too, and double-up his attacks to smash and bash rock demons into rubble.

"We just couldn't wait," said Schafer.

"Villagers have surrounded our offices with torches, demanding the game. So we're releasing a demo and hope that this taste of metal will keep the mob at bay until Brütal Legend comes out this Rocktober."

Brutal Legend will be released on 16th October for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Hoepfully the fact that they are confident enough to release a demo before the game ships means they know the game is good.

    Fingers crossed.

I can't say I'm personally looking forward to the soundtrack (sorry but I *hate* rock music) but the game nevertheless looks superb from what I've seen of it.

OK Tim, the pitchfork is down. No promises about the flaming bag of poop though.

Yep I have high expectations for this one. Probably won't download the demo, as I'll most definitely be getting the full game and would rather experience the whole thing properly. \m/

RAWK!! Even though I'm a big fan of Schafer's work and I love rock music, I'm still not sure about this for some reason. Maybe it's just too metal-ly for my taste, maybe it's because the lead character looks too much like Jack Black and I'm sick of his face being on EVERYTHING, maybe it's because I want another Grim Fandango, who knows.

Seriously looking forward to it. Hope we get some sense of the open-world-ness of it, because that's been seriously lacking in any demo videos I've seen.
