Bruce Willis in Kane & Lynch film talk

Hairless hard-man to be the former.

Die Hard frontman Bruce Willis is negotiating to star in the big-screen adaptation of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men.

If he nods his bald head, Willis will fill the boots of Kane, according to Variety. Kane is the Death Row escapee you controlled in the videogame late last year.

Willis was linked with the project in 2007, alongside Lynch hopeful Billy Bob Thornton. Variety makes no mention of him, but says a co-star is still being sought. We recommend Waingro out of HEAT and you know we're right.

Stunt boffin Simon Crane will be making his directorial debut in Kane & Lynch. He was assistant director on other Eidos film effort Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life in 2003, and has filled the same position on X-Men 3 and Terminator 3 since.

Other relative newcomer Kyle Ward will be penning the script for it. Ward was described as the hottest new writer in Hollywood last year by the LA Times, after his first screenplay Fiasco Heights was sold to Universal and attracted the attention of producer Michael Bay.

Game developer IO Interactive is no stranger to the big screen, of course, as its well-known Hitman series opened passably in cinemas last November. It had tits, swords and Desmond from Lost on drugs in it, and you can't say fairer than that.

Filming on Kane & Lynch is scheduled to start before the end of 2008.

Wow, that's some claim to fame... wait, no, that's not the word I'm looking for... ah, fail. Yeah, that's it...

Cool, I know it had it's problems but I actually liked Kane & Lynch, especially the story. Never finished it though, got stuck at that South America bit with the Helicopter and couldn't be bothered after that.

Yeah, I liked it a lot as well.

Still - the game could be made into a movie, yes, but that's mostly because it is, scene for scene, heavily influenced by already existing films. So it seems a little unnecessary.

Absolutely. I'm sure your CV puts him to shame. The loser.

Well, this will be a movie that is better than the game!

It's official, then: Bruce Willis is confirmed as a washout has-been nobody doing B-movies of the "game-to-movie-to-trashbin" variety.

Agree that Kane & Lynch was more of a film than a game right from the off. I could never get a grip on the controls, so I gave up on the game after trying the demo. The demo looked a whole lot like a game adoption of HEAT tho. Which is probably a better idea than a movie adoption of this game.

So there will be a game based on the movie of a game (which itself is based on films) just like Prince of Persia? A sort of Kane and Lynch: Remix but this time a game that people will actually enjoy?
The modern entertainment industry continues to eat itself.

    Die Hard 4.0 made $377,520,804 at the box office. I don't think that's washed-up

Will be shit. I wonder why they bother. But that's because I'm stupid and it always takes me a good few seconds to realise that the decision to make shit films is 100% financial. Alas for the film industry.

The rights for the film were bought before the game was released to the poor reviews. I actually liked the game, it had obvious flaws! But good characters and story, I completed it and saw both endings. Definitely don't regret it!

Kane and Lynch would certainly make a better movie than a game. If they spend the time and effort necessary to flesh out the story and actually deliver all the characterisation Io promised would be in the game it could potentially be awesome.
