Broken Steel PC and 360 fixed

It's not the end of the world.

Microsoft has fixed both the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the Broken Steel after problems arose at launch on Tuesday.

Those of you heading to Games for Windows Live Marketplace should be able to grab the 476.1MB update properly this time, while Xbox 360 owners should see new Achievements properly reflected in their gamerscore.

Bethesda said the GFW Live issue was down to a "Windows Live DRM Install error" on Tuesday, while the Achievements thing was tardy synchronisation. It comes after The Pitt ran into serious problems on Xbox Live.

Oh well, it's all over now, and Broken Steel's increased level cap, new perks and fearsome enemies saw us recommending you buy it before the other two packs, albeit with a few caveats. Check out the review for more.

while Xbox 360 owners should see new Achievements properly reflected in their gamerscore.

If you recover your gamertag. Which can be the single most frustrating thing on a console, if your gamertag is huge. And even then, if the missing achievements haven't been synced with Xbox.com, like, in this situation, you are going to look forward to doing the achievements again.

Which is not the end of the world, granted, but it is a pain the arse.

Good old unpaid beta testers finding the problems first so I don't have to!

Will be downloading this and The Pitt at the weekend, it will be good to go back to the wasteland.

Might be waiting sometime for all three to come on disk... Might be waiting even longer if you take EGs suggestion of getting Broken Steel first!

I downloaded the PC version of Broken Steel this morning and it was shown as being 511 MB in size not 476 MB. :?

No need to re-download this time then?

    achievement problem isn't fixed!

if you already earned the BS achievements, you have to delete your profile(not 'profile and items')and then recover your gamertag, which could take a while and then you have to re-earn the achievements you 'didnt get' ...so i hope you have a handy save point

whether this is a real fix or Bethesda had been reading peoples comments onrecovering your gamertag on xbox.com which were going about long before Bethesda came up with 'this fix'...i don't know

however if you haven't/hadn't started BS yet...the achievements should unlock normally now.

I got the first 2 achievements of BS, but they didnt take. However I don't think I could be arsed going through a GT recovery and playing them again...not for 60 meaningless points.
