Braid coming to PC next month

Yours for just under 20 "bucks".

Fresh from being a big hit on Xbox Live Arcade, Braid is to be released for PC at the end of next month.

It's available to pre-order now via impulsedriven.com, priced at USD 19.95. That's around GBP 14 / EUR 16 in the old money, or GBP 1.99 in the old old money from before the world's economy crumbled into dust.

Braid, in case you've forgotten, is a puzzling platformer with a unique visual style. You have to manipulate time in order to make your way through levels and rescue the princess.

We're big fans here at Eurogamer, so much so in fact that the game scored a big fat 10/10 - read Dan's review to find out why.

PS3 version and I'll be a happy bunny.

I'll second that call for a PS3 version.

I don't get this. That's more than it cost on XBLA, and Blow complained that MS set the XBLA price and he wanted it to be cheaper, 800MSP (£7). So now MS aren't insisting on upping the price to take a big cut, why has the price gone up??

    Economic Crisis?

loved braid too, but I thought this was already out for PC.

    @Zomoniac,

Possibly because Blow is full of shit? Don't get me wrong, I bought and love Braid, but his constant "Microsoft are forcing me to make money" whines are getting tiresome.

That's a good question. I know it was a very well-received game, but for me £14 is too much for this. Don't think I will be buying it now, unless it's on a Steam 50% off weeekend or something.

Glad it finally got a release though, many people will love it I'm sure.

    Why even mention the price?

No PC gamer is going to pay for this game. They believe that piracy is their god given right.

World of Goo had a 90% piracy rate (9 copies downloaded for ever 1 legally purchased) - Braid will be the same if not more.

*raises hand* I bought World of Goo (and I didn't share my key)
  • UncleLou #12 3 years ago

Months later, at a higher price?

    Not good.

So did I. And I ignored the console troll-tard-nerd. \o/

World of Goo didn't come with a cd-key! I got it from Steam but I'm pretty sure none of the versions did.

And the boxed copy is higher up in the charts on Amazon than Left 4 Dead and the new Call of Duty even all these months after release. Saying no-one paid for it is clearly not true.

It did - I could use the key to activate my game which I had bought directly from their website on Steam. Which was nice. :)

Hi, I'm also an idiot who believes what developers say in order to draw piracy as a monstrous two-headed dragon. Let's be friends.

Well, if you've read 2D-boy's blogposts on it, it's blatantly obvious that this isn't their intention at all.

So you're saying that piracy isn't a bad thing...?

You've confused me somewhat as it seems you just proved my point...

Microsoft FORCED him to charge more than the XBLA so that PC users would be FORCED to buy an xbox and OVERPAY by the price that MS originally FORCED him to charge in the first place. or something.
  • dingo75 #21 3 years ago

I will buy this when it gets a bit cheaper as well.
I bought World of Goo as well and didn't share my key.
    Same with other digital downloads.

Yesterday I bought access to a website to be able to play "Auditorium" ( http://www.playauditor ium.com ).
Was worth the 9 EUR for sure!

Yeah, I also got a whiff of something unpleasant when I heard him complaining about how MS were forcing him to do things: it's easy to blame unpopular decisions on "the man". I dare say nothing was done without his consent and if he pushed it they would have dropped the price.

Nice indeed. I'll have to do that (otherwise I'm sure to lose the key soon... if I haven't already).

So, just to recap, you think that one person making a random conspiracy-theory post about what he sees as lying developers proved your point that "No PC gamer is going to pay for this game. They believe that piracy is their god given right."

You're not exactly big on logic, are you?

A few notes for your consideration:
    - He didn't say piracy wasn't a bad thing: he implied that you were an idiot for believing developers who say it's an extensive problem. Those are not the same thing at all.
    - Although it's fun and easy to deal in absolutes as it removes a lot of the necessity for rational thought (e.g. "No PC gamer is going to pay for this game";) it's difficult to take you seriously when you do it.
