Bomberman Live! Reader Review
Anyone who had never heard of Bomberman, please, bump your head to your keyboard three times and wonder why that is.
Since it's first incarnation in 1983, Hudons most explosive (pun intended) franchise has bombed the charts. Most people will remember him from his adventures on the NES, and more importantly, from the fantastic 4-player SNES title, with the insprired name "Super Bomberman", the first 4 player title to be released for Nintendo's 16 bit console. It was an absolute blast back then, and the major reason to buy that multitap. It provided hours of mindless entertainement for all ages...
...and judging from this latest incarnation, good ol' Bomberman still knows how to blast opponents away. From the satisfying sounds the bombs make, to the chaos of playing, everything in this version 'fits'. Over the years, the franchise has gotten a lot of cumbersome features that most players didn't even bother with (I'm looking at you, Bomberman 64). These have carefully have done away with, to expose bomberman's true nature: chaos.
The satisfaction of winning, the main reason to play bomberman, is sweet here. Forcing an opponent to eat his own bombs provides good times for old and young, often during the same game. The graphics are just perfect for this game, and sounds with catchy themes will humm their way to annoy everyone to play this great incarnation of an iconic classic. You'll have to fork out to get 4 controllers, but you'll do so with a smile!
