BlizzCon 2008 to be televised in the US News

PC MMO News by Robert Purchese

30 July, 2008

Blizzard has signed a deal with pay-per-view channel DIRECTV to televise the third annual BlizzCon gathering, where real humans dress like elves.

Tickets have already gone on sale for the event taking place at the Anaheim Convention Centre in, well, Anaheim, California on 10th and 11th October.

DIRECTV is only available in the US, sadly, but those with access can watch a minimum of eight hours of high definition coverage - for free if you are a new subscriber to the channel.

This will be the first time Blizzard has televised BlizzCon, where fans congregate from all over the world in silly costumes to celebrate the likes of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo.

With World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, StarCraft II, and Diablo III all in development there should be plenty to talk about.

I'm sure it'll be on Youtube soon after, but like you, I can't see who in the right mind would want to watch such a thing. I mean attending an event like this, yeah, I get that. But watching? Nah.

It should be available in HD on the torrent networks within an hour of it being shown. ;-)
