Bladestorm demos this week News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

2 October, 2007

Koei has announced that demos for Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War will be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live this Thursday.

It will give you all a chance to try out the renewed take on the genre ahead of its 2nd November European release.

The story revolves around the historical struggle between England and France back in the 14th Century, bringing to life characters like Joan of Arc and Prince Edward aka the "Black Prince".

And despite sharing obvious similarities with previous Dynasty Warriors titles, Bladestorm represents a considerable step in a new direction for Koei - a strange hybrid of real-time strategy and role-playing game.

Perhaps the most striking difference is that you are a skilled warrior and commander here, rather than a superhero with army-squashing powers - making your choice of support troops and tactics all the more relevant.

The result of the change had a delightfully positive effect on us when we saw the game earlier this month, leaving us refreshed and intrigued. Pop over to our preview of Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War to find out more, or simply download the demo on Thursday to make your own mind up.

Looked like Dynasty Warriors on horseback. Still, alright for 15 minutes of demo fun I suppose.

It's not like Dynasty Warriors though, this is more of a strategy game and you need to use the troops.

I'm really looking forward to this, as I really enjoyed Kessen and it seems similar, except a bit more hands-on, which I thinks is awesome. kessen felt too much like an interactive movie, so this should do it right.

But of course it still will be pointless.

Excellent news! The Japanese demo was sadly incomprehensible, to me at least.

It really isn't like Dynasty Warriors, that I DO know.

When is this out? It says Thursday, but does now (just passed midnight) count? I suppose I'll check, but my 360 is upstairs and the 'net is downstairs. Some heavy lfting required - is there a lump of metal inside the 360?

I still hope this'll be like Kingdom Under Fire. Looks similar.

Well, Thursday is almost over and SHOCK no demo (on Live at least). At least it doesn't seem to be shoddy international treatment, no country seems to have it... unless someone wants to correct me. Please!

EDIT: It's Friday now. Friday is after Thursday. So if it was put on yesterday, it'd be there today. But where is it? In the void between universes? The fact they bothered to announce it would suggest the demo is ready, but they just didn't bother.
