BioWare reveals SWTOR's Alderaan

BioWare has officially unveiled Alderaan as a playable location in its Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic.

Princess Leia's home planet, famously destroyed by the Death Star in A New Hope, is undergoing a time of political unrest at the time The Old Republic is set. Different noble houses are vying for the throne in a bloody civil war, including one supported by the Empire and one by the Republic. The scene's set for intrigue and probably a bit of skirmishing, then.

The concept art and screenshots show a lavishly-appointed city and snow-capped mountain ranges - "A vision of utopia," according to the blurb - to explore. Star Wars: The Old Republic is due for release on PC when BioWare says so.
