BioWare countdown reveals competition
North American gamers bid on loot.
The BioWare countdown timer we mentioned last week has run down and revealed... a North American competition to win PCs and merchandise.
It's called the BioWare Bazaar and is described as "a week long series of online auctions featuring over 400 prizes, ranging from custom painted PCs to BioWare apparel and more!"
"To bid on these auctions, fans will have to collect tokens through various challenges. On April 6th at 9AM PDT the first BioWare Bazaar auction will begin, with new prizes being auctioned every 15 minutes until 4PM PDT on Saturday."
The prize list reveals that US and Canadian BioWare fans can win computers and consoles branded up with Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins artwork, along with graphics cards, memory sticks, laptops and a lot of BioWare merchandise.

This with bells on. At one point the main thread on there about this was filling up with about ten or eleven pages an hour(!)
Not the best planned event from a PR standpoint I've ever seen...

Yup.

But the number of obsessive geeks on there who've already managed to tweet and facebook 1000s of points means my (pretty high) level of interest in these games wouldn't get me anywhere near winning a bid regardless.
An utter letdown to the excitement generated by the countdown in other words. Imagine if the Bazaar only applied in Bioware's home country of Canada! The US geek community would invade!
