I only played this on the PC - completed it once on medium.
Good game. Nice environment. But nothing amazing.

Looks identical to the PC version

Some shots look better, some look worse. One of the better ports by the looks of it, but then i dont think anyone would consider bioshock an ugly game on any platform.

Never really could get into this game, shame.

Ummm... They're really old shots. Those Big daddies were concepts that never made it into the final game.

Those shots have been around since before it was released on any system!

hmmmm, these images look a bit more colourful than those I remember from before - is this new? More colours than just browns?!

That's insane.

The only ones I don't think are old are the one with the bottle (little corner bar in Fort Frolic) and the one of the junk in the medical bay...

You just can't get the staff these days!

Come on, give us proper shots, I bloody love Bioshock, I want to see if there's fancy new stuff :P

shot 11 has the big daddy which got scrapped before release on the PC/Xbox version, I remember in the making of dvd the artist has a bit of a moan that they had to ditch it due to time constraints.

Makes you wonder why they'd re-release old promo shots showing it, unless they are adding it back in the PS3 version.

I think the shot 11 BD is the one in the artbook that's protecting the little sister from shots.
His helmet is broken and you can see his human face through it.
Really creepy, cool though.

As an xbox 360 owner I hope the conversion to PS3 goes well, as all PS3 owners should get to play/enjoy this gem of a game.

Plus its one thing getting the game looking good on the PS3 but I hope that they can keep the frame rate up as well without resorting to Haze/Half Life 2 like vaseline-o-vision.

Hmmmm... I'm very suspicious that those screenshots are from the PS3 version as I'm sure I've seen some of them before, last year in fact around the time the 360 and PC versions were released. They look far too sharp and anti-aliased to be from the PS3 version and actually look better than the 360 version whereas we've been told by the developers that both games will look pretty much identical. I'm thinking those screenshots are from the PC version running at a higher resolution and then downsampled but maybe that's just my cynical nature! LOL

Darren: Yes thought the same, as to date we have seen how much difference between PS3 and X360 actually is and to have BioShock breaking that mold, not sure! But still good thing for PS3 owners to enjoy and have extra few features to boot.

Well well, it turns out that you're right. Many of these shots were in fact concept shots from way back in 2006, these two are actual PS3 fare though.

Could be PS3 shots. but a little voice in my head is saying, no fucking way! their PC shots!

Ah, confirmed then. they are PC shots. so why say they are PS3 shots when they are not EG?
Strange.

How can anyone be so naive to provide older concept material as new screenshots to hardcore gamers with memory stronger than an elephant's, especially for a high profile game as Bioshock with such loyal followers?

Honestly, I'd have thought anyone who wanted to play Bioshock would already have bought it on 360.

Went to have a look at Haze on EG to compare screenshots - turns out Haze ran at 1080P with fantastic levels of anti-aliasing!?!?

EG - any chance of you actually posting some screen grabs of Haze instead of that unrepresentative rubbish? Where is your super duper 24Bit digital frame grabber thingy-ma-jig when you need it eh?

LOL @ BadBoyBonner

To be honest, I've stopped judging a game by screenshots anyway as they don't tell me how smoothly the game runs or whether there's tearing or not. I suspect that's why publishers like UbiSoft love bigging their games up via screenshots, it so easy to make any game look good that way. Haze is a good example as pointed out by BadBoyBonner! ;)

I got Bioshock for the pc and it should be an amazing game but somehow they managed to mess it up in my view. The enemies are pretty dull and repetative and the guns all feel shit, plus you have this over-the-top wavy water effect that just adds to the feeling it's all a circus rather than a seriously athmospheric adventure.

Shiny graphics but that's not the only measure. Besides, if PS3 owners are so stuck up they haven't played Bioshock they'll have no excuses now. Personally... there are newer pastures on the horizon, even on the PS3, and I'm looking forward to them more. Bioshock is awesome but most of us will have creamed it by now...

I'm not negative, hell. It's about time. But it must be said that this is a very odd situation, because the majority of us played Bioshock on release, we loved it, we love it still, we owned it hard and now we're looking to the horizon for newer challenges. This is a glossy port and while it's certainly great news for the PS3, myself personally I think there are newer and better things on the way. If you haven't played Bioshock by now, I assume a PS3 port really isn't going to change that unless you are some monumentally retarded PS fanboy who has "I *heart* Sony" tattooed on their scrotum and can't survive at nbight without the controller in their bed.

I think it's a bit too little, a bit too late is all... Bioshock is great, but why now for a PS3 version?

"Bioshock is great, but why now for a PS3 version?"

I think it's a terrible game but as for an answer to the "why now?" question: To prepare the PS3 market for the inevitable sequel. PS3's installed base is now big enough to make it too costly for a publisher to ignore.

Maybe it's just me but I don't fully understand all these "Who the hell doesn't own Bioshock" comments. I myself am delighted at this news as I own a PS3 and am saving so I can at some point buy a 360. Yes I know it came out on PC but the fact is my PC isn't up to running it on anything but the lowest settings and I believe that it (along with other games such as Crysis and The Witcher) deserves to be played as it was created. At the moment I simply can't afford the £400 I would need for a decent PC upgrade.

To summarise with it's release on PS3 I'l finally be able to play a game I've wanted to for a while.
