BioShock LE "TBC" for Europe

2K details contents.

2K Games told Eurogamer this morning that the BioShock's Limited Edition version has yet to be confirmed for Europe. Tsk.

It was speaking after its American buddies explained what was going in the box on the game's official website. It's set to launch in the US and Canada on 21st August.

What you'll get is a Big Daddy figurine, a "Making Of" DVD and a soundtrack CD. Gamestop and EB are the only places to get your hands on a copy at the moment, with a PC Limited Edition going for US$ 59.99, and the Xbox 360 version for US$ 69.99.

The publisher is also giving you the chance to get your artwork on the cover of the Limited Edition box. All you have to do is pop over to the website and submit your entry for a chance to win public recognition and some fancy prizes.

Third Place will receive a Cult of Rapture t-shirt and a copy of the BioShock Limited Edition for both Xbox 360 and PC.

Second Place will receive an official Xbox 360 faceplate, a Cult of Rapture t-shirt, an exclusive Cult of Rapture download on Xbox Live, and a copy of the BioShock Limited Edition for both Xbox 360 and PC.

First Place will get their art on the cover of the BioShock Limited Edition, a copy of the BioShock Limited Edition for both Xbox 360 and PC, and an all-expenses-paid trip from their home anywhere in the world to the BioShock Launch Party in August.

Head over to The Cult of Rapture website for more information.

Alternatively pop into our BioShock gamepage for all the latest news and media.

Presumbably enough people do otherwise they wouldnt bother selling two versions of the game. Personally unless there is something included in the collectors edition that would make the game better or truly add something I would always buy the standard version.

Hopefully the 360 version will be region-free then. Or you could put a PAL disc in the NTSC limited edition box. If you felt like it.

All these collectors/limited editions or steel/tin-case games should fuck off for good.

Just give us the GAME please.

    I hope it gets confirmed soon - I'm a sucker for LE's :)

Wow, they're giving the figurine, making of and soundtrack, ace!

This LE actually has something decent. A collectible figurine and a soundtrack CD? Now those are worth buying. Last LE I remember buying was Black & White 2 and that had absolutely nothing. Was a waste of money (the LE not the game... well...)

I love you guys moaning about them releasing a special edition.
They had a poll on their website and people voted /for/ a special edition... get over it; you may not want it, but thousands of people did.

I'm glad to see they went with more than one of the options. The figurine sounds fun, but it's not all that great as a special.

Touche, Wite_Noiz, everyone is bitching and moaning about a games company that actually listened to the wants of the (US) gaming community. Give it up.
  • brooza #12 5 years ago

    It's prolly region free anyway
  • Dezm0nd #13 5 years ago

    @RE*AC*TOR

    Really - why post?

I'm more than excited for this :D
    I'm a sucker for LE's too.

It will be released in Europe, they just haven't confirmed a date yet. WHen they asked people about whether they like to see a collectors edition or not, they said it would be released in all regions.

I think the last Limited Edition Game I got was the Resident Evil 4 tin for the PlayStation 2. Before that it was Doom 3 - Collector's Edition tin for the Xbox (for the classic Doom games). Otherwise, I don't usually bother with Special Editions. The Limited Edition for Bioshock sounds great though. I hope it comes to the UK - and if it does, I hope it doesn't lose all the actual extras, leaving only the tin!

Well, the official site your article links to, does state that:

"Note: I changed the sentence “The Limited Edition will also be available in Europe and details about ordering a copy will be coming soon” to say “other territories” instead of “Europe” as we have not yet ruled out any regions for the Limited Edition."

That sounds like a confirmation to me - just hope LE's contents are the same for all regions/formats,
