BioShock 2 worldwide in February
2K rivets a date to the wall.
2K Games has announced that BioShock 2 will launch around the world on 9th February, 2010.
All three versions - PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 - will appear on the same day.
BioShock 2 had been shaping up for an autumn 2009 launch, once upon a time, but was pushed to 2010 in order to receive more polish and to enjoy a less cluttered schedule.
BioShock 2, as a reminder, casts players as the original Big Daddy, introduces a Big Sister arch-villain and includes multiplayer. Those are they key changes.
New developer 2K Marin has retained the core experience, setting the action once more under the sea, where the twisted inhabitants of Rapture await, oozing ADAM and Eve from their pores.
Eurogamer has kept well abreast of the game's development, and we've stuffed all our content into the relevant gamepages below. Gorge yourselves.

Can't get excited for it at all.

In fact, this is one of the most pointless releases this generation! Pointless (unless you're a shareholder in Take-Two).....

Pointless? How can it be any more or any less pointless than any other game?

And I like Halo.
And Bioshock.

Apparently you are a prototype that was "too" good, so you were placed into stasis. Braun awakens you following the Big Sister's abduction of little girls and her attempt to rebuild rapture. That's why you are faster, stronger, can use plasmids etc. The subsequent Big Daddy's were "dumbed down" on purpose so they wouldn't provide too much of a threat if they went rogue.

@bodypopper: all the Halo sequels were developed by Bungie, and c'mon, nobody gives a shit about the story in Halo anyway! You play for the fun (just like nobody gives a shit about the story in Mario, either).....

Always find these comments amusing. How people can decide to buy a game before they have seen any decent details about it beyond me.

Its this same fear, that led L4D fans to boycott a sequel, under the delusion its too soon (and that sequels are worse/always crap). Look at those L4D monkey neighsayers now, who got flown out to Valve, to play L4D2, eating humble crow pie out of their asses. Bravo, Valve.
I think Bioshock 2 is going to do just fine, and I wish gamers would put aside their fears and place some faith in 2K. They proved themselves, against the odds, just getting the original made, when no one was expecting anything of them.
You know you all want to go back to Rapture, so stop kidding yourselves and give this game and 2K the chance, it has earned.
Like with all games, take a pinch of salt (not a whole jar, like some of you seem to be) with what's presented, until you know better.

And, as I and others have pointed out earlier, this game has been given to a different team to develop! (Actually, five different teams)...

If The Fear grips you all too much, don't buy it at launch and wait until reviews of it are out to digest. Then decide. Rocket science, it is not.

In case people don't know, he (Jordan Thomas?) also did Shalebridge Cradle in Thief 3, widely thought one of the best levels eva.
Dunno if he can eat a whole one though. Still, with his record so far, I'm not going to assume it's more of the same.

The MAJOR difference being that L4D2 is still made by VALVE, wheras Bioshock 2 is not made by 2K Boston (Bioshock, System Shock 2, SWAT), but by 2K Marin (nothing!). Not only that, the multiplayer is being built by the devs of Dark Sector, which was average at best.
I agree with a few other posters, in that I can't get excited for this at all.

The change in team has made a difference.
