The guy on this article's link picture looks almost exactly like Duke Nukem.

"Elsewhere, the quality of graphics and audio belies the game's NES origins..."

Eh... I thought Bionic Commando was originally an ARCADE game before being ported across to numerous consoles and home computers like the NES, Commodore 64, Amiga and Atari ST? :?

I should have said that I'm really looking forward to this if only so I can finally play the game without the horrendous push-scrolling of the Amiga/Atari ST versions which were the only versions I've actually played.

Might try this out I loved the original.

Oh, and once again Darren shows he is an old git ;) BC was indeed originally an arcade machine.

Great fun in local co-op, this. Totally dragged Tom along, or the dead weight as I now call him. In my head.

Your arm can be used to deflect incoming projectiles like rockets as well, which is nifty, and the graphical revamp is very snazzy.

This is a 'remake' of the NES version which was quite different in the map & some gameplay elements to the arcade & 80s home computer conversions. I've never quite understood why the NES version was held in so much higher regard than the original arcade game :/

I'm confused...what trailer of Bionic Commando did I download and watch the other night from marketplace then - as it was far different to this, but had the same name? The trailer I watched was a third person game, with some really nice graphics, but with the focus on using the arm and ropes for swinging through the levels - this is a review for a side-scrolling game...am I cracking up?

Edit - aaah, just read that they're working on a 3D update also, I really thought I was cracking up then! :D

Bionic Commando remains as one of my most cherished Nes carts. The Game Genie codes for it were dodgy though.

Also, the Arcade version sucked balls. The Nes version was a lot more balanced.

heh! FFXIII was delayed because Sony created a machine that nobody can program fast enough. so, umm hows multipatform game delays are due to the 360, clever dick? :D

woo-hoo, it'll be damn good if it's got scrappy in it ;)

@DcP729UK

What an insight into the world of the games industry, such foresight and what a detailed analysis of the delay, thank you, have you ever considered becoming a consultant for a big player within the industry, insight like yours is very hard to come by I hear...

an announcement of a game not previously known about normally means they have just started it. although as the 360 is easier to program in comparison to the PS3 FFXIII could be released at the same time.

looking forward to this... I'll be picking up the PSN version because if it 'feels' better on a D-Pad (more like the NES) then it has to be the PS3 pad (it'll be impossible on 360 d-pad).

Loved the old NES version and still play it from time to time... suprised this update hasn't been made for Wii ware.

BTW: it's a shame Megaman 9 didn't get the same graphics engine.

"Ratchet's Clank-powered copter"

Methinks you're referring to (or should be) the excellent Swingshot in R&C. Tragically underused in the PS3 version, but an enormously fun gadget, even in 3D. If BCR is half as much fun, this will be great.
