Bionic Commando Rearmed dated News
Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell
Capcom has announced that Bionic Commando Rearmed will be released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in mid-August.
The exact dates are Wednesday, 13th August on Xbox Live Arcade and Thursday, 14th August on PlayStation Network.
We've previously been told it will cost 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) on XBLA and USD 9.99 on PSN. Capcom says the European price on PSN is GBP 6.99 / EUR 9.99.
BCR is Swedish studio GRIN's reinvention of the classic NES original, which retains its 2D platform and grappling hook-based gameplay but reworks the graphics and introduces co-op and competitive multiplayer and fiendish "Challenge Rooms" to test your skill.
A lot of that skill will be in making well-timed use of your "bionic arm" grapple ability, which allows you to swing like Tarzan. Challenge Rooms often involve building momentum and choosing the right moment to attach or detach in order to reach an exit gate within the 30-second time limit.
GRIN is also working on a fully 3D update of Bionic Commando, which yours truly got a bit excited about after a hands-on session at Capcom's annual preview event.
Look out for extensive hands-on with BCR tomorrow and a special video treat later in the week.
