A mysterious post on Lionhead's development blog suggests a Fable II announcement is due "early next week".
The post, made by community manager 'Sam', promises some "good news for all Fable II fans next week", but there are no further details. In a related post the cheeky teaser also promises, "Next week we're announcing something that will make you want to revisit Albion. That is, if you're not already there..." Which could indicate something which would provide an extension of game-time.
Microsoft's being tight-lipped about the whole affair, claiming they'd be "hung, drawn and quartered" were the cat to escape the bag, so we're assuming it's quite big potatoes. The obvious answer would be some DLC - there are a few clues kicking around in the game's interface already and items are available from the Fable II puppet show web site - but there are other options such as patches or an expansion.
Our money is on some sort of DLC-flavoured treat, however, probably in the form of an item pack, clothing or character customisation. Bertie suggested that it could be a cat, possibly to ride your dog and keep it in order with the odd supercilious paw to the nose, but we're unconvinced.
Which brings us to the issue of pricing, upon which we shall defer to our learned friends at Rumour, Speculation and Guesswork. The Pub Games were priced at 800 MS points. This price, as with all DLC, was set by Microsoft rather than Lionhead, but it's probably a fair reflection of what will be charged for content attached to such a successful title.
Are you ready to reach into your wallet again so soon after buying the game first time around? We've developed very tender fingers of late, mostly in response to endlessly typing our PIN numbers into card machines across the retail spectrum, but Fable might just demand enough loyalty to squeeze a little extra from out beleaguered accounts. This is, of course, assuming that DLC is actually the subject of the announcement at all, but for the moment that's where the smart bets probably lie.

I've not got Fable II yet - well, I have, but the missus has secreted it away to a hidden fortress until Christmas, bah humbug. But I've heard it's quite buggy, so if it's a patch AND some sexy DLC, all ready and waiting for me post-Xmas, then I'll be a happy bunny right through the New Year.

zzzzzzzzzz sorry feel asleep there, must be all that whining im doing, wearing me out. But personally I think i have a right to moan as I spent 20+ hrs of my life playing the game, only for it to break & unable to progress any futher without fully restarting. A good reviewer would have picked up on the multiple bugs, glitches that slipped though the development & testing phases.

Does this mean they are going to make it good?
Fable 2 is the most disappointing game I have ever played. Why game designers who spend millions of pounds and man hours on games yet STILL refuse to employ the services of an even barely competent writer is totally beyond me. I am flabergasted that it received a 10. So much so that I used the word 'flabergasted' which is a word only c**ts use. Thanks Eurogamer for making me a c**t. |

How about a quest to get my bloody dog back? I understand the whole sacrifice thing but still, it's a stupid idea to remove it permanently.

On the broken game saves issues - can anyone copy their game saves as backups? I can only move mine to a memory card which seems bloody silly if you ask me. Maybe a Microsoft 'security' thing but annoying all the same.
On a brighter note, I can't say I've seen a 'major bug' as such but I'm only at the citadel so not sure how far into the game I am. |

Considering the way DLC is going at the moment i suspect it will be two different coloured Dog coats and a new hat for £6 or something.

Just patch the game already, guys. I don't like paying £40 for a game that doesn't work past a certain point even after restarting the entire game.

That's weird. MY XBox died 2 days after I brought Fable 2 home. Is there anything to this theory, or is it just a vicious rumor? Because now I'm hesitant to drop Fable II into my replacement XBox. Not that I'm dying to play it right at the moment, but sooner or later it's likely... |

So, here's the way 360 games are working at the moment:
Pay £50 for a game that was obviously designed to be controlled using a mouse. Play it using a joypad because you hate yourself. Buy the ending for £15. Wait for the same game to come out on the PC, 4-6 months later, with mouse controls and free ending. Sell 360. Seriously, mine's just for Guitar Hero these days. Buying console games is for mugs. Buying console games new is for... teacups? Also, killing the resale market by making games cost 10+ quid over and above whatever you paid for them makes new games cost £65ish, or over $100US, depending on how fast the value of the pound is plummeting, is also killing the first-sale market, so that can naff off, too. There's only even a second hand market because new console games cost the earth. I don't even have to consider whether to buy a new PC game, they're too cheap to care about, but at £[boot to the groin] per game, console games are a wholly different proposition. |

I loved Fable II until I stupidly chose the 'Sacrifice' Ending! I'd sacrifice two Spire's worth of prisoners to get my dog back! So I hope it is downloadable content that will enable me to get my dog back - without having to start another character.
And any other kind of expansion to Fable II would be great. It's just a shame that if I can't get my dog back, I won't be playing it. |

Did you guys skip the ending scene or something?
There may not have been much of a last boss (although that was wonderfully amusing) but there certainly was an ending. It wrapped things up nicely and still had enough foreshadowing to make Fable 3 interesting. That's still more of an ending than Fallout 3, Gears of War or Halo 2 have. |
