BFBC2 MP demo next week on PS3

PC multiplayer beta kicks off today.

DICE has announced that the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer demo will be available next Thursday, 4th February on PS3.

The Xbox 360 version was put on Xbox Live Marketplace earlier today, as you know.

Today also marks the start of the PC multiplayer beta for the game. This can be participated in by pre-ordering the game at specific retailers or by snatching a key from an online outlet.

One of those will be Fileplay, a site that also provides server rental for private BFBC2 matches. DICE raised a few eyebrows by holding back the public server files that usually enable any Tom, Dick or Harry to run their own dedicated servers. The developer assured us, however, that no profits were made this way, and the decision was made purely to protect the "integrity" of the game's code.

Fileplay's 10,000 key giveaway starts at 5pm GMT.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is due out in full on 5th March.

PS3 owners won't be disappointed with this demo if they liked BF:BC. It is rather good, even on the 360
  • speed182 #2 2 years ago

They will be disappointed that they get it a week later though.

More reasons to have both consoles.

sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit a week later!!!?? Oh no,...

Will be playing ME and MAG. Big deal over nothing son!
  • Murton #4 2 years ago

Was hoping my order of MAG would arrive today so that I could get it installed and set up ready for tomorrow but alas the Royal Nail had other plans.

This would have been good to give me something to do for today but once MAG arrives I'll have all the shooter I need until Bad Company 2 is actually released.

Actually, they probably won't be dissapointed, since the PS3 beta was available from mid Nov till end of Dec.

Unless, you haven't played the beta and you do not want MAG (like myself) and of course you are not playing ME2.
  • speed182 #7 2 years ago

ME is a 360/PC exclusive so PS3 owners won't be playing that.

Like Machiavellian said, not everyone likes MAG and didn't get into the BF beta, so that was a pretty stupid thing to say.

I wasn't making a big deal of it either, it doesn't affect me as I own both consoles, but I can certainly tell you there WILL be alot of disappointed PS3 owners.

Which are probably outnumbered by the sheer number of Xbox only owners who will have had to wait 2 months(!!!) over the PS3 players that have already played it.

Or maybe as adults we have a little bit of patience and don't cry waaaaaaahmbulance because we can't do something instantly.

Well PS3 owners have a win really, I don't have a PS3, but my housemate does and was in the beta which rocked bells, it featured the awesome-looking Arica Harbour, a deserty sorta map, and if they get the same demo as 360 owners, then it's gonna be the Alaska snow map.

So they've played two different levels extensively before the game is out.

    But still: PS3 suX!!11! X80x RUl3Z! G4Y5tat10n N00BZ! Am3r1C4 W1NZ ALL!!1

What's with all the crying shit?

People disappointed that they didn't get a demo doesn't usually make people cry. I never said they were going to be hugely disappointed, just a little disappointed that they have to wait an extra week.

What is the big deal with me expressing my opinion on how others would feel?

    Ding ding ding.

    Break time kids.

Because they won't be dissapointed. Because the beta was only supposed to be out the 4th.
  • myiagros #13 2 years ago

I'm a PS3 owner who is interetsed in B:BC2, couldn't care less about MAG, and wasn't in the B:BC2 beta, but i'm not that bothered about having to wait a week, as i didn't know a demo was due today anyway, so getting it next week will be nice

Jesus that site with the 10k beta keys is getting hammered .
  • Artemus #15 2 years ago

    Fileplay = "Bad Gateway".

Never ceases to amaze me how sites don't prepare for the inevitable traffic rush.

I love how people think they speak for the entire PS3 community, when you clearly don't. How can you say no one will be disappointed? People will be.

I replied to MaxHughes they would be a little disappointed that they have to wait an extra week, but won't be disappointed with the demo. Why don't you also flame the people that get disappointed with game delays?

Why do you keep bringing up the beta? Not everyone was in it.

I find it rather funny that you slate me, when I own both consoles so it doesn't disappoint me, I'm just looking at it from both sides of the fence. Yes it's only a week, so it's nothing major, I agree!

    Jesus, ignoranceof the highest order.

And now the sites 'undergoing essential maintenance.' *sigh*

Now i have to to a class and hope there are still some keys left at 8:30 tonight.

I really want to play this since getting back into BF2 when it was about £3.50 for the game and all the add-ons on Steam over christmas. I don't want MW2's bloody half-arsed MP. From the videos BF:BC2 looks fucking awesome.

    This. Even Eurogamer can't cope.

  • christourlord #21 2 years ago

Not seeing the beta on Steam yet.
  • TheBigK #22 2 years ago

It's on steam here mate, make sure and restart
  • christourlord #23 2 years ago

Duh, I'd put the actual "unreleased" game in my favourites, instead of the beta!
    Thanks... downloading now!

Tried the 360 version. Found that in 8 years, EA still have the same server problems they always had. Connection problems, cant sign in to EA server, lag (when you can even on a 20mb line with 2.5mb upload), EA are a joke. I'll check a future BF in another 10 years or so, see if Dice have found a decent distributer that doesn't want to destroy a decent game with bad servers.

Of course EA will claim the problems are nothing to do with their servers as they have for the last 8 years or so. Demo deleted after one hour, no sale.

Tried the PC version, and I have exactly the same imrpessions as "holloguts" above.

What a shame, seems like a step back form Battlefield 2.
