Halo graphic novel on the way
Featuring all your old friends.
Marvel has signed a deal with Halo developer Bungie to produce a graphic novel based on the blockbuster first-person shooter.
The 128-page book will feature a host of characters and weapons familiar to Halo fans, and a storyline based around the battles of the Covenant and the Flood.
French comic book artist Moebius has already been signed up to help out, along with Phil Hale, Ed Lee, Tsutomo Nihei, Jay Faerber, Andrew Robinson, Simon Bisley and Lee Hammock. In addition, Bungie's art team will supply gallery pages together with other renowned comic book artists.
"The chance to give our faithful fans something this special was a chance we had to jump at," said Bungie studio manager Harold Ryan.
"Re-exploring the Halo universe with some of our favorite comic book artists and writers - indeed, some of the greatest of all time - was a true labour of love."
The first Halo graphic novel is due out in the US this July, with further Marvel/Bungie products set to follow as part of an exclusive licensing deal.

Now while you're waiting for this you might as well read BLAME!, by the very same artist obviously.

Isn’t there a Halo film on the way as well?

Actually, I think its all good so long as its not bad. In other words, I don't care if its a cash in or not (of course it is, in the same sense that every proft making venture is a cash in), so long as the quality of comic and film are good enough.

If you have a good product (Such as we all agree Halo is...) don’t make a hash of the merchandising and follow on products, as this just lets the original product down.
And my Master Chief socks rock...

They might even make a Halo game one day...

If all you ever read is US comics then you may recognise Nihei from his short spell working with Wolverine it was called Snikt! and sent Logan into the future to fight bacteria (sic).
Im not Halo fan in the slightest but Ill be getting this for the Nihei content, gotta keep the collection up to date.

What is it the comic industry has that the film industry lacks when it comes to works adapted from other media? When strong names are onboard, comic versions of films and books almost always turn out well.
Hollywood could learn a lesson there (and if I knew what that lesson was, I'd charge a fortune to teach it to them).

Comic production is relatively small budget and tends to involve a lot less people per project when compared to films (which I guess are generally the most expensive form of media out there, unless someone can think of another). With so much cash at stake in films, I wonder if its simply a matter of too many people watching the pennies and meddling.
Also, the bigger the industry, the more people in it who are just no bloody good at what they do.
Things to think on maybe.

Best graphic novel ever!
8/10!
PS. Is there such a thing as a 'graphic novel fanboy'? If there isn't, there soon will be.

But who cares, it's more Halo while we wait for Microsoft to delay the release of Halo3 for the PS3 launch -.-

"Is there such a thing as a 'graphic novel fanboy'?"
Are you kidding? You bet there is man, they were around when Clive Sinclair was still weeing in his short trousers. In fact, I think that is where the phrase was first coined.
I first heard the term fanboy when I was about 12 (I'm 31 now), used by a comic collector friend of mine regarding people that complained about the number of lace holes in Batman's boot (or some such bollox).
EDIT: When I say "that is where the phrase was first coined", I of course mean the graphic novel industry, not Clive Sinclair's (alleged) childhood bladder issues.
