Beatles version of Guitar Hero coming?

Sony Music in talks, sounding keen.

A new Guitar Hero game based entirely around Beatles songs could be on the way - at least if Sony/ATV Music has anything to do with it.

The company owns the rights to Lennon and McCartney's (not sure whether that's Heather or Paul nowadays) songs (perhaps Michael Jackson sold them to pay for all the Dairylea triangles). As reported by the LA Times bossman Martin N. "Marty" Bandier is well up for Guitar Hero: Beatles.

"It's something we have talked about and something I'd like to pursue," he stated.

In the meantime there's always Aerosmith's Guitar Hero game - it's due out this June for PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.

ugh, talk about a game i won't be getting...

the guitar hero games up until now have been great (with the exception of the 80's version), this one will be crap.

which is probably cos that's what i think of the beatles.

Surely GH: Rolling Stones would be better?

    Seasidebaz:

I was wondering about who the target audience for this could possibly be. Came to the conclusion that it is probably GH owners parents or maybe even grandparents ;-)

i'm kinda fed up with guitar hero now, GH3 confirmed this. the spark has gone out of it for me.

................I'm the target audience, and only 35 years young!!
I'm a Beatles fanatic, and can play a good amount of the songs on Guitar (rhythm)
I do however agree the Rolling Stone 70's/80's time period would be better served by this type of product.

Thats right everyone - No one like the beatles - they are like Soooo 1960s
  • Goodfella #6 4 years ago

What! And miss out on 60's classics like Satisfaction! ;-)

I love the Beatles, but I'm not sure I'd want an entire Guitar Hero collection just of Beatles songs. If anything, the variety on offer in the main series games is what makes it fun.

Also, Sony owning the rights implies they may do some silly PS3 exclusive thing? If that's the case, no sale.

  • Eighthours #10 4 years ago

That would be great, but I'd rather see a Rock Band version!
  • Tiger_Walts #11 4 years ago

If it was a Rock Band game then the drummer would score points by being rubbish.
  • moggsy #12 4 years ago

I love the Beatles, and I suspect people that are dissing this are underestimating their back catalogue. Something like Come Together or Revolution would be great on GH.
  • neilka #13 4 years ago

I, for one, only listen to music recorded within the last six minutes. Seven tops.
  • jlaakso #14 4 years ago

I think this would be a great move. Obviously it's not meant for the hardcore, but neither is the Wii.

    hehe to the dairylea...

    Thats a bit 'krafty'...

    Edit: ITS A K!!!

Does Guitar Hero actually lend itself to the Beatles music that well? I don't think so. Rock Band would be better surely?

Maybe for twenty quid, but why not just release it as DLC?

Can anyone think of any Beatles tracks they'd like to play as Guitar Hero tracks?
  • BillyBrush #20 4 years ago

beatles are great but not that well suited to this, i'd like to see a spinal tap comedy version

the game is made for things like iron maiden and def leppard, and they knows it really, or AC/DC, not the beatles though it's too soft
  • moggsy #21 4 years ago

    Tracks I'd like to see:

    Early stuff
    She Loves You
    Help!
    We Can Work It Out
    Norwegian Wood
    Sgt Pepper
    Hello, Goodbye

    Later Stuff
    Revolution
    Back In The USSR
    Dear Prudence
    While My Guitar Gently Weeps
    Get Back
    Here Comes the Sun
    Come Together

Sure there's plenty of stuff on the White Album which could be included too.

Personally I'd rather they done an Extreme Metal version featuring Cannibal Corpse, Gorgoroth, MayheM, Nile, Dying Fetus, 1349 etc.

  • Mr_Dodger #25 4 years ago

Aerosmith, Beatles, bollocks. Wake me up when they do "Guitar Hero: Kevin Bloody Wilson" edition.
  • tjlazr #26 4 years ago

Is there any point in any of these band specific versions? Seriously just learn to play it on a real guitar. It's not rocket science and a damn sight more cool than playing on a plastic buttoned piece of disposable rubbish. Beatles isn't exactly rock out air guitar territory is it?
  • darc #27 4 years ago

I agree that most of the Beatles catalog isn't precisely "Guitar Hero" material, but a lot of it is just about hearing the songs you want to hear, while you happen to be playing a game. I, for one, have often wondered why there are no Beatles tunes available for Rock Band, where guitar-centric music is less emphasized anyway. (In fact, I hated the initial Rock Band track list for this reason, but that's another story...)

I'd love to see some downloadable Beatles for Rock Band, mainly so I can listen to the Beatles when friends come over and demand to play. (Finally, I'm bored to death with the whole music-game thing.) But making entire band-specific games is a manipulative cash-in, besides which Activision can p*** off for not supporting the Rock Band controller. I bought the both the Rock Band and Guitar Hero III bundles, and - very conspicuously - can only play Rock Band with friend(s). Activision will not be getting any more money out of me. Not for Guitar Hero products anyway.
