Battlestations sequel named?

Eidos dodges trademark claims.

Eidos has declined to confirm that Battlestations: Pacific is the name of its Battlestations: Midway sequel.

Convincing arguments sprang up after the publisher filed a trademark for the name shortly before Christmas, after spilling the beans on a follow-up game in a financial report last year.

Battlestations: Midway allowed you to relive the historical World War II battle in the pacific using planes, ships and submarines. Its blend of action and strategy took a while to grow on us, and left considerable room for improvement should a cough sequel cough be made.

So far little is known about this follow-up title, but we expect it will be on some platforms and feature war.

I really wanted to play Battlestations: Midway, but at some point in its development it dumped the Xbox and PS2, and I don't have a 360 (or a worthy PC).

Will be interested in checking this out when it finally happens. I like the premise and ideas of the original.

i quite enjoyed the midway version. yes it did have some niggles but overall i would give it an 8/10. its something different to play at least from the all the other usual games.

This was a solid title and a lot of fun to play on Xbox Live while the community was still strong. The graphics were significantly last-gen, but the engine was very versatile (flying, ship-to-ship, and submarine action were all fun).

    360 and/or PS3 polish could make this a standout game for 08/09.

Does anyone still play the first game online at all?

I've been tempted by its now bargain price in the shops, but would want at least a few online games I guess to feel I have experienced the whole thing.

I had this and really enjoyed it but I'm a bit of a Naval nut, cracking game would def play a sequel and wouldn't mind a modern day version either.
Might pick it up again now its cheap as I traded it in a while back for Orange Box.

Excellent game - although IMO the online community never really took off the way it could`ve.

Midway + current gen graphics + big online cimmunity would be incredible.

    Yum yum.

Battlestations: Midway was one of the few XBox 360 games I traded back. Would have kept it if you could create your own battle scenarios.

    Maybe for the sequel?

I think it's got loads of potential, but some of the of the micromanagement got annoying.

Spending time looking at a damage control panel just isn't as much fun as raining battleship shells on some poor unfortunate.

First game was really good, it would have helped the longevity of the MP if you'd been able to play co-op against bots though, hopefully that's something that can sorted for the next version.
