Battlefield: Bad Company pushed back? News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

24 January, 2008

Battlefield: Bad Company may have been pushed back to a June 2008 worldwide release.

It was originally expected in March, but EA South Africa has told LazyGamer it needed more time to add polish. As in shiny polish, not people from Poland.

Incidentally, we are still waiting to hear back from EA UK for set-in-stone confirmation.

Bad Company is being made by Battlefield veterans DiCE for PS3 and 360, but deviates from the traditional formula to focus on a cinematic single-player story.

You are dropped behind enemy lines with a squad of renegade soldiers on a personal quest for gold and revenge, with plenty of dark humour and political satire about private military companies.

Other attractions are being able to blow nearly everything to pieces, plus a familiar strong online multiplayer component.

Word on the street is that Bad Company has improved massively since we first saw it, and see it you can over in various video snippets on Eurogamer TV.

The delay is probably for the best!

So this generation I can honestly only think of a small number of AAA games which have not had some kind of delay.

Anyway, I agree this is probably best. It could definitely do with some graphical polish.

The developer vids on Live have been very nice but framerates of in game footage looked to have issues. Wasn't sure if this was a video capture issue mind.

I've heard that line so many times, but what's funny is that Battlefield 2 was delayed multiple times, and when it was released it was still a bugfest. Same goes for BF2142. Doesn't seem to matter how many delays they have, they always need patching, and hence more waiting, and wingeing on forums about delayed patches. Oh the good old days..

@ Apostle - I think it's important to note that BF2 was not only a bugfest by the time of its release, but still was when EA abandoned it in order to make fresh cash with BF 2142.

Up to this day, I cannot play my copy of BF2 because it insta-crashes back to desktop on startup - a common bug that was never resolved. Thanks to the ****ers at EA and DICE for this! I can only hope that this asinine customer treatment will come back to haunt them with future versions of this "franchise".

Yup, I'll add my name to this list of Eurogamers who reckon the last couple of Battlefields have been badly broken.

Shame, as when it works I've had SO much fun with 2142...

Hope this one's better in that respect but I'm not holding my breath.
