Battlefield: Bad Company patch tomorrow
DICE wants your bugs.
DICE will be deploying the first patch for the Battlefield: Bad Company demo tomorrow, which aims to put an end to statistic problems that stop you seeing how many people you've shot in the face and so on.
The developer says it's "working around the clock" to address other issues such as game freezes, and wants your feedback to help it get to the heart of the issue more quickly.
Other problems include Europeans being shunted onto US servers, although hosts will now be sorted by ping so you should get local games first.
DICE has also boosted the number of servers in order to cope with the 50,000 of you playing the demo that appeared on Thursday.
Battlefield: Bad Company is a story-driven spin-off in the popular online shooter series. It tells a dark and humorous tale inspired by modern day combat stories, and will also feature a meaty multiplayer component more synonymous with the Battlefield brand.
The full game is out for PS3 and 360 on 27th June. Head over to our Battlefield: Bad Company gamepage for all our coverage to date.

Otherwise it's just polishing the proverbial passing.

What happnened to Beta tests in this day and age.

Maybe they could release a patch that will erase the time i took out of doing more important things to play this demo, like taking a shit or staring at a brick wall for example.

But yeah, a patch for a demo? If it is a patch for a beta test I understand.
I am still undecided whether to get the game or not. It has it share of problems, some which will be fix I presume, some maybe won't be. Things like when you can't pick and form your own squad once you are inside the game playing, and the fact that you can't freaking prone!

Hurrah :-/

As for the removal of prone not sure what to think on that one though i can see that maybe they wanted to increase the pace of the game a little and stop snipers from being able to hide as well as they used to.

@galerian86 i think the destructibility is as good as you can expect from game with such big open area's. People really do seem to be expecting the moon on a stick in this gen.

I didn't come playing and expecting "the moon" for this game. It just that, something is wrong when your game uses term like "environment destruction" and you can't destroy a stack of wooden crates(The crates on the road at the last two gold crates on Oasis spring to mind).

Funny though that you can chop down a palm tree with your trusty blade in just 4 swipes.
Add to that teh shocking vehicles, lagtastic online play and, as always the people playing it (yes tking me because i got to the helicopter first, is always funny)...
Huge pass atm, this patch best be good.

Still, I'd rather see a patch for a demo than a day one patch for the disc. Just think of it as an extended beta.

I love the game and all, but sure that should have been one of the major considerations a very long time ago!??

Single player was ok, bit generic but I thought it had great visuals & good dash of humor. For me, the multiplayer was fantastic, it took me back to playing the Wake Island demo of BF1942, which was probably one of the most entertaining multiplayer games in recent years, and up until now the BF franchise for me has never recaptured that feeling.
The only issue I had was with the lag on some servers on my 360, which is in the list of things they're fixing.
It's a demo, it's free, they're listening to the issues people are having and they're fixing them... Seriously what is there to complain about? If you prefer CoD4, then fine. Play that.
Personally I felt that CoD4 was a tad overrated. Enjoyable but it had an easy and short single player campaign. CoD2 for me is still the highlight of that series.

Of course there are issues with the multiplayer, but wha did you expect? After a couple of patches everything will be sorted (i hope).

On the other hand, the Fatal Inertia demo on the Jap PSN is mind bogglingly cr*p. Apart from one spiffy water effect, it really could be done on a PS2. Come back Wipeout Fusion, all is forgiven (or stroll on Wipeout HD).

I got bad news for ya, those days never existed. No game has ever been released that wouldn't benefit from a patch or two. Some even did, you just didn't know about it. Many games received a rolling re-release, without the consumer knowing about it, with a few bug fixes and even gameplay tweaks. The problem with that is, if you were an early adopter, you didn't get the patch because it wasn't available for download. At least now you get that option.
Although I do agree that the ability to patch could make some studios a little more lax when it comes to bug crunching time.

You mean those small pre-releases where the focus in on you having to pay to play them? These are about building hype. Not testing. Testing is done in the retail version. You know that.
