Batman gets LEGO treatment News

PC DS Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Robert Purchese

28 March, 2007

Traveller's Tales has announced it is working on a LEGO Batman game for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and DS.

All will be available sometime in 2008, and older console versions are also being considered.

It is, of course, the same team that bought us LEGO Star Wars, which turned out to be a resounding hit with all age of gamers. So expect to see more of the same, Traveller's Tales director Tom Stone told Kiziko, as "We're going to do exactly what we did with LEGO Star Wars."

Traveller's Tales will be working with DC comics to create an entirely new adventure not related to either the films nor television show, and has been given future access to the Batman vaults.

The Joker and the Penguin are expected to rear their evil heads in this new adaptation, as is the spooky Arkham Asylum. However, there's no word on the camp crusader's partner Robin, or the elusive Catwoman, though we expect they may well be unlockable.

Downloadable content is planned at some stage for Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, but other than that all games should more or less be the same.

We were unable to get hold of Traveller's Tales for more information, but we'll keep you posted.

Ah, the camp crusader.

High hopes for this game, "Holy Cow" notwithstanding...

I still haven't had the pleasure of playing the star wars ones. I'll have to go look in some bargain bins, see what I find.

At this stage wouldn't a PS2 version be an automatic choice still? Or has it fallen from grace so soon.

Hopefully it won't be as shit as that last Batman Begins game, though it was almost worth it for that consolevania review...

Brilliant!!! Loved the first one (PC) and the second one on the 360 (me and the GF are working our way through it as I write).. I said just the other day to her that an Indiana Jones version would be good, Batman is a good substitute.

Bring it on, travellers tales are one of the few devs these days who can still deliver a real sense of fun/discovery in their games without going overtly "cool" on our asses.

Looking at the image on IGN, looks like the Boy Wonder will be getting in on the act, too. And not quite sure where the 'no PSP version' idea comes from - you know this'll be splashed across every format known, and quite possibly a few that aren't.

Or something.

So far this has been the best series of games in the history of gaming, and I will cheerfully break the legs of anyone who says different. Hopefully the Batman games will be as good. I was hoping for Indiana Jones myself, but I suppose that'll keep for later.

FUnny, I'd thought of Indiana Jones too, muts've been hinted at somewhere. But actually for a game like this to work, there needs to be a lot of varying characters, and as sick as I am of batman in general, it's probably the most sensible choice.

Any one think of any other suitable ideas, based on wot i said above.

I'll start you off:
Star Trek (forget licensing issues, it's just for fun innit)

Ed, search the forum we had a discussion when LEGO Star Wars came out and we had loads of shows. We even worked out which film character would fit which character type in LSW too. :)
Great hopes for this game, a PSP version should be on the cards a DS version was done of the last one wasn't it? I imagine that if the PS3 sales figures drop then SONY may stopa PS2 version to try and push people the PS3. They'd be mad to do so though.

Why are most new Lego toys rubbish? Why can't they go back to generic themes like pirates and knights and such?
