Banjo-Tooie XBLA due out in April News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

27 January, 2009

Rare has announced that Banjo-Tooie will be released on Xbox Live Arcade in April following the release of the original Banjo-Kazooie through the download service late last year.

According to Rare, the team porting the game, 4J Studios, has also taken the opportunity to incorporate the Stop 'n' Swop feature. "Stop 'n' Swop items collected in Banjo-Kazooie will 'magically' appear in Tooie, resulting in... well, you'll just have to find out. What could be cooler than that? Nothing, that's what - not even Kazooie turning into a dragon," the developer said in an email.

Rare is also currently working through a 14-strong shortlist of the best user-made vehicles for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, and if you took part and end up winning you'll be notified through the email address associated with your Xbox Live gamertag.

The developer plans to release more details of how the winning gizmos will be exhibited next month.

Let me guess, Eurogamer will hate it and give it 2/10?

+1

Looking forward to this, particularly since N&B proved so disappointing.

Shut it Nick_, fool!

N&B is good, just...not a platformer. Is all.

Please Rare get to work on a true sequel to Perfect Dark that does the franchise justice. Enough of this kiddy game stuff, yes we know you can put googly eyes on things, but these games are not very good and sell like crap

Bollocks to that. Instead rehire all the people who left you to form Free Radical and make a new Killer Instinct game. Thanks.

I don't think vehicles and maps have much in common.

I think that they are actually working on a new PD game though. Too many rumours, covered leaks and rare usually works on four games at once (with 2 big titles release last year...).

@ DaM

I should point out that I only played the demo, but it still left me bitterly disappointed, and I really doubt the full game would have made me feel any better.

I just wanted a traditional platformer, old fogey that I am.

Now, the question is are Rare going to merrily shaft XBLA buyers again with this one, charging one and a half times for Tooie what you'd pay for an N64 game on Virtual Console, like they did with B-K?

Meh, probaly just get another poor rating from Eurogammer again. Another sign that they didn't play it for very long: Time was you played the entire game before writing a review none of this "Ah its open ended, we can play abit and then see what we think"

Eurogammer reviews are always seem to be positive about 1) games that have a hugh marketing drive behind them 2) Odd games that the can be honest about.

I'll still keep reading the site cause i think the reviews are good, but really don't agree with alot of your conclusion.

Really enjoyed playing through BK again and getting a 100% on it. BT didn't appeal to me that much when I bought it on the N64 mainly due to the incredibly shoddy framerate in some places. I really tried to like it but it just never was as good as BK.

Time to give it a second chance now. The gameplay still holds up very well today and with the framerate problems gone I think this one will be a winner.

I've got both BK and BT on N64, and an N64 to play them on but I'm so damn tempted to buy these again on XBLA just for the swap shop!

A follow up to Blast Corps would be nice. I'm sure that's not just nostalgia talking either.
