What the hell?

Lets hope the vehicles are just a BG&E / Jak 3 style overworld thing, and the whole game hasn't turned into that Namco Starfox shambles.

I don't know, geussing from the mumbo's nuts (lol) sign, mumbo jumbo's taken up mechanical work (ok, that probabbly is an issue). So that means the vehicles will be a transformationy type thing. The only reason the majoritory of these screenshots show that is because it's the "new" feature

Looks terrific... I was worried about the look of Banjo and Kazooie in the teaser trailer but they look great here and the artwork works extremely well. Really can't wait for this game, now GTA IV is out this is by far by most wanted game this year.

In it's day this could have stood toe to toe with Mario. I'm worried about the vehicles though as they don't really have a place in a platformer.......what the heck have Rare done?

Some people are pathetic. The graphics look incredible and no one outside Rare knows how much of the game the vehicles actually make up. Even if it's 90% vehicle-based, I say good for Rare. No doubt the same people who complain about lack of innovation from Microsoft/Rare will claim this is "ruining the license".

Can't wait to get more info on how the platforming and the vehicles fit together. I reckon the vehicles are an objective of the platforming and will be used for multiplayer / some in game races.

Im holding out on commenting on the vehicles ntil we find out how much of a part they play. But if you look carefully you'll see screenshots numbers: 2,6, 10 and 14 all seem to take place in a mechanical "bubble". If you look really carefully the cog system for shot 2 is seen in the very far background in shot 10, implying that the level will start off flooded and you need to drain it!

Those are some of the nicest graphics I've seen...

I'm a bit wary of vehicles; I don't want this to turn into a driving game first and foremost, or even "Banjo does GTA". Hopefully it'll be 80% platforming and 20% driving, or something like that.

I think it looks pretty cool. Nice art direction and plenty of time to refine it. Not too sure about vehicles though. These shots give me the impression they're going to be a major aspect of the gameplay. Focus on the teamwork Rare!

Yes the graphics look great and true we don't know anything about how the vehicles will be implemented.
However I think there is no denying they do look a bit, well... pony, don't they?

Am I right in saying this is the first true X360 title from Rare, meaning the other games released by them were intended for Xbox 1. I'm sure I read this somewhere.

seasidebaz you must be some sort of idiot, to now declare that the game is ruined because there are a few screen shots of some vehicles.

Until we know what they are for, and how they will be implemented, then shut the fuck up!
I think vehicles could be a welcome addition to Platformers. Everyone moans that platformers are all the same etc etc, so I think its good to mix things up a little.

I mean Beyond Good & Evil had vehicles, and that is a sublime game.

This is still my most wanted so far.

The vehicles are a bit of a mess visually, and the squared-off Banjo doesn't really work stylistically IMO. But so hard to tell from static screenshots, so lets wait for video footage.

W T F...

Looks to me like the veichles are a big part of the game (due to the amount of screenies they are included and the number of them and they did say it wasn't a platform game. It honestly looks complete crap. This could be the last game Rare make...

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo (breath) ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

Rare, what the fuck are you doing? If this turns into Banjo-Kazooie Racing I'm going to track the team down and kill them.

EDIT: On CVG a Rare spokesdroid says it's defintiely NOT a racing game, and the shot are of a 'vehicle creation system'. Hmmmm.

Come on, they are clearly not racing machines!

Look at size of them! If anything it would be Banjo Kazooie: Tank simulator, but I doubt that very much.

Okay. How about: you have to do battle with (or race against) Gruntilda's minions but only once you've found enough parts to build a machine? So the adventurey bit is finding stuff, and then there's the creating bit and then the battling bit.

Possibly.

I believe this to be a stylistic choice yea, think they are trying to retain the look of old Banjo, but it does look a wee bit strange.

I'm not overly impressed with the look. Very bland and clinical. I was hoping for something more organic.
Hopefully the animation will be something special as it seems quite soulless in the screens.

Link? Oh, and if you think the screen don't look so good, you should see the originial 720p screens, they're really good looking. Something lost in translation I think.

But what if those vehicles are all custom built by the player? They all seem to be made up from a common selection of parts and assembled to perform in unique and varied ways depending on how each individual player wants to attempt any given task maybe? It'd explain their quirky look and be quite a cool feature I reckon!

I think it's a bit early to be judging the game, but personally I quite like the idea of custom vehicles. I do hope there's still a decent amount of unfoot stuff as well, but it certainly looks interested. And yes, Banjo is supposed to look boxy.

What is this obsession with Killer Instinct...? The N64 version was mediocre at best IMO with poorly animated, blurry 2D sprites battling against generic 3D backgrounds... I just don't see the appeal myself... I didn't even back when it was released (and, yes, I made the mistake of actually buying it!). With so many other good fighting games having come since like Tekken 5, Virtua Fighter 5 and DOA Ultimate and with SoulCalibur IV imminent, do we really need a sequel to a substandard fighting game? What can it possibly offer that we haven't seen in other games...? :?

"Banjo was one of the best games on the n64"

I can't agree to be honest. I felt it was a major letdown compared to Mario 64. Like most Rare games it was style over substance...highly rated due to reviewers being over impressed by the technical side of things.

Wasn't that the main reason Mario 64 got its plaudits? For technical reasons? (being 3d and all that)

I think that is fail because Banjo was far superior to Mario in my eyes. I've always been a massive platformer' fan, right from Fade to Black to Mario Galaxy.

For some reason, my all time fav platformer was jak and daxter: the precursor legacy, closely followed by banjo

Mario 64 was more enjoyable on the DS in my mind.
