Not really, I agree with him to a degree and I'm no fanboy. I adore Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie, but this is just trying to pull in fans of those games with the surface appearance that it is indeed a sequal, yet also all the others in this new generation of 'omglolmultiplayeripwn' gamers. I really hope it does well if it sticks to its roots more than it appears to be, and evolves enough to stay interesting. However, if it is just an fps/vehicle game hidden behind a cute exterior then it's a load of junk (nuts and bolts). Here's hoping!

blig, seriously we're bored of your kind of shitty comments now. You've just read (or maybe you didn't?) a glowing hands-on by Tom, which just by reading and looking at the screenshots so you can tell it's not just got a Banjo face on when it's not a Banjo game. It looks (and by Tom's words feels like a Banjo game)...which is just a bubbly happy great fun platformer. Yeah instead of running around you roll/fly/skate/hop/anything you can imagine around...how does that NOT sound like fun?

i had the mispleasure of reading these comments whilst not signed in and saw certain ps3 fanboys comments, now i'm signed in they're thankfully blocked! if you aren't gonna get the game why bother commenting?
but for me this is a must buy, i'll still get LBP (because I need some games to justify why I bought a ps3 in the first place) even though they seem quite similar, but I imagine this will be much better due to it being a proper, structured game and not a game that relies on the player having to make the levels himself because they either couldn't be arsed or because its too hard to make games on the PS3 so they did the best they could. |

Sounds to me like the great Banjo world design crossed with those "lose hours of your life" vehicle/puzzle/construction Flash games going about right now.
If that's the case, even at a rudimentary level, that it's a big pile of WIN for me...... |

Been excited about this ever since it was announced, and I love the direction Rare are taking it in. It's nice to see some innovation going on instead of the tired old rehashes we're constantly bombarded with.

I'd much rather have a fresh platform collect-a-thon than this. If anything BT showed in how many ways a platform game can be improved upon its predecessor. I have been toying weith getting a360. This game was going to swing it. The lack of platform action looks like I probably won't now. Bring back the Rare of old.
It's a bit like saying that Halo 4/the next Perfect Dark/take your pick wouldn't be a FPS because there are too many! |

With all the top quality titles over the coming months this is one of the few I have already pre-ordered. Looks like a lot of fun and it's doing something different. I was sceptical from the early vids as vehicles looked a bit shonky, but later vids looked a lot better. Really like the visuals too - they have come a long way artistically from Kameo.

For me B&K Nuts & Bolts is my most wanted game of this year, I really cannot wait to play it (that's putting it mildly!), it sounds absolutely terrific and loads of fun. And with a remake of the first game headed for XBLA, I couldn't be happier. So long as both those games come out then I really couldn't care less about any other game really... well except for Fallout 3.
Now that I've said that, I still think that Microsoft will have a hard time selling this game to most Xbox 360 owners just as they did Viva Pinata in late 2006. Whether that's because most of its owners would rather shoot things than explore a colourful cartoonish world I don't know... it could be simply down to poor marketing by Microsoft. Certainly releasing Viva Pinata at the same time as Gears of War didn't help last time, especially as the former received very little publicity. Hopefully Microsoft won't release this new game at the same time as Gears of War 2; that would be stupid. I really hope B&K Nuts & Bolts is a huge, huge success for Rare... |

Why the hell would we be jealous of a glorified physics demo? LBP looks cute but completely devoid of any playability. BK is a properly thought out game with objectives, progression and, you know, gameplay. |

Couldn't agree more. Giving me the chance to make my own stuff to improve my performance in a structered world is infinitely more appealing than what LBP offers. I have very little creativity when it comes to making levels (Timesplitters and Smash Bros Brawl are prime examples) so I'd get bored of LBP very quickly. From my experience any game that has user-generated levels available to anyone is mainly populated by unimaginative rubbish (Look it's Super Mario Bros World 1-1. AGAIN.) or insanely difficult levels made by veterans for veterans (Mario Vs. Donkey Kong 2 springs to mind). Occassionaly there are some gems that clearly display some talent but they are few and far between. In summary, BK: Nuts & Bolts - YAY! Little Big Planet - Meh. |

+1 (at least) Funnily enough the same thought was crossing my mind too. I'll quite happily say that there's nothing wrong with liking a good platform-em-up (or whatever game style floats your boat) but you have to bring something new to the table from time to time. It's not that there aren't other games of the desired genre out there to play instead if the latest title you were waiting for has taken another direction. Personally, I thought BK needed a new twist - another pure collect-em-all would have left me a bit deja-vu to be honest. I never found much reply value with the old titles either - this "build it and try it and tweak it and swap it" thing will probably have far more legs for me in that respect.

Still nonplussed - Wii/360 owner here.
I'll at least try it, but this looks like another Perfect Dark Zero - hyped to buggery, all kinds of high hopes for it, it comes out to mixed reviews then is forgotten about before finally being brought up again months later only to be chalked up as another negative in Rare's faded reputation. EDIT: Braid is the platformer for me. God I love Braid :(

Just because I hate to be lumbered with the PS3 crowd...
There are many reasons for a gamer to get a 360 outside of Banjo. There are not many reasons for a GAMER to get a PS3 outside of LBP. This ludicrous LBP vs Banjo discussion is validating my above theory - it's like this debate has come about from insecurity over whether their £400 purchase was a mistake - nothing else could possibly make sense considering neither game is out and they're not even very similar to each other. Thus comparing them at this stage, or at any stage, is ridiculous.
