Bad Company 2 demo hits 3.5m downloads

Plus technical details on the PC version.

EA has tweeted that the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 demo has been downloaded more than 3.5 million times on PS3 and Xbox 360 combined.

The full game's due out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 5th March.

Meanwhile, DICE's Johan Andersson has updated the game's official blog with detailed information on the PC version.

There he explained that the game supports DirectX 9, 10 and 11, AMD Eyefinity for up to six monitors and other things probably only Digital Foundry understands.

NVIDIA 3D Vision support is also planned, but will follow release in a patch.

Look out for our Bad Company 2 review next week.

    It certainly won't translate to 3.5 million sales though.

    Sick game. Deserves to translate to 3.5 million sales.

    I pre-purchased this game on Steam, and have played in the beta a couple of times. It's good, but technical issues abound (I know it's a beta - but we're very close to launch here)...

    I hope the final version is a lot more polished, for one thing - I'd love to get rid of the screen tearing (the vsync ption seems to make little difference). There's also no sprint-strafe, and mouse control feels floaty.

    Great time to be a PC gamer, I suppose (when nearly every single developer on the planet is focused primarily on consoles)...

    I'm boycotting the PC version until it supports seven monitors.

    I'm boycotting it until they implement the option to use a CalecoVision controller to play.

    I've downloaded but haven't had a chance to play it. Played the beta a couple of months ago and it didn't really catch me. Couldn't find anyone for ages and when I did, it was when I got shot in the back.

    It's pretty good, driving around in a tank made me realize how this whole Modern Warfare thing has made me miss drivable vehicles and big maps in games like this. Alas, I don't really see what BC2 does that Frontlines didn't do two years ago. Plus, the controls (360) are absolute shit, there's only a few setups and you can't customize them. Moving around in the game feels a bit sluggish, you can't go prone, and the aiming is twitchy.

    @kinkymong: Why sully your Colecovision controller with this when you could be playing Cosmic Avenger?

    Beta and Demo are from near 3 month old build, they'll hopefully have camera shakes and other bugs sorted in final build.

    20+ hours on the demo and still not bored with it. Amazing game. Good thing is it actually takes skill and tactics to play it so the community should be filtered of all the dipshit COD players

    @metalangel

    One difference is that the servers should work from day 1, I remember when I got on frontlines and the official servers were unplayable for about 2 weeks, after that I gave up on the game.
    Nice game but just horribly supported when the game launched which killed it.

    This game is excellent.

    I imagine that the reason it has this many downloads is because it's fucking brilliant.

    Aside from those cretinous snipers on n00b mountain.

    I play the demo daily. And it's only one level, with little unlockables!

    Really waiting for the final product, mmm.

    i think people need to use the spot button more often, im always tapping away at the select button waitng for that orange triangle to pop up, very handy when looking for snipers.

    I'm loving the beta on the PC. Not sure what technical problems people are having with it because it runs perfectly well for me.

    @cianchristopher

    Same with me pre-bought on steam and you can't cancel!

    Really hope the issues are sorted didn't really like the feel to it, although blowing stuff up was a laugh.

    Brilliant game I've put in 25+ hours on the demo alone, why? Every time you play there's something different, different team dynamics, different tactics, different play environment due to destruction 2.

    There's nothing more satisfying than collapsing a house full of enemy players.

    This is going to be my Multi Player game of the year
