Atari points to September for Legendary News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

8 July, 2008

Atari has told us to expect Spark Unlimited shooter Legendary in September.

This is based around the idea of Pandora's Box being opened in the modern day cities of New York and London, and you using guns to stop beasties eating people and baddies claiming the box for themselves.

Spark Unlimited is the same developer responsible for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, which also had a fetching premise of an alternate reality where Hitler and his troops broke Europe and then moved on to the US. But Turning Point was rubbish. Still, lessons learned and all that.

Atari also pencilled in a Q4 2008 release next to the PS3 version of Alone in the Dark. A way away, then.

Oh dear.

Also, I suggest you check this.

£50 says the Pre-Release Reception section was written by their own staff.

Dear Atari,

Please fix Alone in the Dark for PS3.
No point in releasing it in the same state as the PC, PS2 and 360 version.

I kept my 360 for months for that game alone (it RROD'd on my 4 times, so after the last fix I sold it on eBay), and was so looking forward to a great survival horror game.

So please, do yourself a favor. FIX IT!

Why bother with Alone in the (Tearing) Dark on the PS3 when you can buy the apparently superior Siren: Blood Curse for half its price and earlier? :?

I liked alone in the dark, but its constant visual bugs, silly bugs (eg: flaming truck being 'thrown' by invisible zombies over a bridge EVERY SINGLE TIME you pass under it when you re-enter the area) and the unbelievably shit ending kept it from being a truly great game.

try to sort it out for the PS3 release please

I wouldn't hold my breath for PS3 Alone in the Dark being better than the 360 or PC versions. If anything I expect it'll be exactly the same and possibly worst, given that the machine doesn't seem (to me anyway) to have the graphical grunt of the 360. I guess we'll see but I fully expect it to be the same tear-infested, glitchy game with annoying controls that it was on the PC and 360.

Yeah, I really hope Alone in the Dark gets fixed for the PS3. It was the game I was most looking forward to after MGS4 until I saw some screenshots I thought looked awful. I hoped they were PS2 shots...turned out they were XBOX. To be honest, I think this is one game that has too many improvements needed to be turned around in time.

Roll on Silent Hill: Homecoming...
