Atari may be the new publisher of the Ghostbusters game, according to Dan Aykroyd, co-creator of the franchise and writer of the videogame adaptation.
He was speaking to some US radio station (listened to by Kotaku), and said the newly-housed videogame adaptation was about "a year away" from release.
Atari was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.
The Ghostbusters game had been expected this winter on just about every format, but was one of the titles kicked out into the cold after publisher Sierra (Vivendi) merged with Activision.
THQ has since reportedly picked up 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, but that still leaves action game Wet and Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust homeless.
Not to mention Brutal Legend, the next game from Double Fine Productions of Psychonauts fame.
The most recent rumours claim EA is sniffing around the rock band roadie-action game.

Oh well.
It was a nice idea but Atari will rush it out unfinished as they try and prop up their ailing line-up of shite, only for the game to get mediocre reviews and for it to bomb, thereby reinforcing the downward spiral of the publisher.

Sony or MS should pick up Brutal Legend - they really need some quirky, left-field games like this in their line-ups.
Also, Sony would have been wise to pick up Ghostbusters and tie it in with a publicised Blu-ray release of the film(s). Sierra had already done a lot of the marketing legwork with that one. A shame for Terminal Reality/the cast that Atari is probably the worst big company who could have got it. |

And if Dan Ackroyed say’s it then it’s true, just like the alien and ufo’s he talks about whilst smoking cigarettes on that documentary. Its all true!!! Akroyed is a legend! The original men in black!

To clear things up for you two ‘Razz and Miiiguel’, the conversation was between myself and Whatsfor. As ‘Kotaku’ did get the name wrong of which many publications and websites use as a source including MCV who amended the mistake. Clearly Eurogamer don’t use them as a source because they got the spelling correct as did Whatsfor who corrected me. So nothing private or a joke at all. We actually contributed to the news article which is more than can be said for you two making personal remarks about bloggers.
