Atari dates PS3 Alone in the Dark News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

3 November, 2008

Atari has taken the calendar by the horns and dated the remainder of games due out this side of Christmas.

Which means a 14th November date for Alone in the Dark: Inferno on PS3. The "Inferno" part of the title was added recently to reflect the additional content and bug fixes developer Eden has been working on since the launch of Alone in the Dark on Xbox 360 back in May.

But will that make any difference to the original 7/10 score? Sadly, our hands-on impressions of the PS3 build suggest not.

A week later, on 21st November, we'll be treated to Legendary on PC and Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion pack Storm of Zehir.

We'll skip over the former, because of dismal review scores, but the latter adds a significant amount of content to the ageing D&D role-playing game. Of most interest will be the party system, but there are also new classes, a minty fresh campaign and plenty of other bits to go round.

They should have moved it to next year. Who in Infero will buy this during this period?

Looking forward to Storm of Zehir in particular. Mask of the Betrayer added a lot to NWN2 and vastly surpassed the original in my opinion. If Storm is anything like as good........

I might pick this new version up as I traded in 360 version very quickly so didn't get far. Not buying retail though (not getting my cash twice gits!), I'll get this version early next year from the bargain bins or, being the evil games industry killing scum I am, pick up a cheap 2nd hand copy

I'm interested if the 360 version is being patched up to match the PS3 version!

In a recent interview they said a 360 patch would be considered if the PS3 version did well..

I tried the US PSN demo last week and while the camera has certainly been improved, it's still the same creaky old game that the 360 had. *Not* a purchase for me I'm afraid... I was very unimpressed with the 360 version too, the horrid camera was the least of this game's problems IMO...

Any game where you have to make the main character blink deserves a mediocre score.

I actually thought that was a nice touch!

I have tested the demo on the X360 and on the PS3. And the PS3 version is so much better to play, I did not buy it for the X360 becaus of the issues with the camera etc.

Now that is gone it's a must buy for the PS3 in my case. :D
