Assault Heroes 2 confirmed for Wednesday News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

12 May, 2008

Assault Heroes 2 is due out on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday and Sierra Online has confirmed a price tag of 800 Microsoft Points. You knew all this, of course, but it never hurts to remind yourself.

Developed by Wanako Studios (still funny), it's a two-stick shooter in the same vein as the first game, but with a bigger campaign, more destructible environments, more exotic vehicles and an extra edge to the on-foot gunplay.

It also has fancier bosses, as you'll know if you've watched our Assault Heroes 2 bosses trailer, which should put up more of a fight during the two-player co-operative mode, which was a "pleasurable romp" good enough to rescue the first game from relative mediocrity.

At least that's what some idiot wrote when the first one game out in late 2006. Whether the sequel will achieve this much will be a question of how it copes with tougher competition from the likes of Heavy Weapon (well, Kristan liked it) and also Mutant Storm Empire.

#1 comment. WOOT

First one was good, but XBLA games are over priced as whole. Not as bad as wii VC games of course, but it's still bad.

800 points, if the game is good (like Assault Heroes was), is a bargain.

If you don't think Band of Bugs, Catan and Bomberman Live are worth 800 points you're dead inside.

NickD7: Shut up.

310 out of your paltry 1315 gamerscore points are from Viva Pinata: Party Animals ffs. The same game that got 3/10 right here on EG. The same game that sucks ass but costs more than a XBLA game. You haven't got a bloody clue, not a clue about games.

The virtual console is not only far more expensive, but because we're Europeans we get the botched 50hrz versions of the games, which run at half speed. I haven't bought a single game on the VC, and I doubt I ever will. Almost all of the really good games on there have already been ported to numerous other versions and run at FULL SPEED.

The original Assault Heroes was a lot of fun and I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel, but I do agree that a lot of the games that go up are slightly overpriced. 800 points has become the standard, which is simply too much for a lot of what goes up. For something like Assault Heroes though, it should definitely be worth it.

@NickD7

There are 4 versions of Symphony of the Night. You went over by a factor of 10.

Also, Dear Microsoft,

Where the fuck are games like Duke Nukem 3D, Doom 2, Final Doom and SSFII:HD Remix?

NickD7: Wait so full games like Castlevania, dukenukem 3d, doom, etc. in a HD remake are shit but overpriced exact ports that don't work so well are win?
