Assassin's, Splinter Cell backed with DLC
Late-2009 sequels will receive extra bits.
Ubisoft's loving the DLC! That's the word from its latest conference call thingy following financial results.
As reported by Kotaku, the company said it plans to make downloadable extras available for Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction and James Cameron's Avatar after release.
All three games are due out in the third quarter of Ubisoft's current financial year, the publisher reconfirmed, which puts them on shelves in the last three calendar months of 2009. Assassin's Creed 2 may well be out in November.
Elsewhere in the earnings call, Ubisoft reiterated that Ghost Recon 4, I Am Alive and RUSE will be released in the first three calendar months of 2010, while Red Steel and the new Shaun White game (see elsewhere) are down for the tail end of this year.

Hmm. I think I'll wait and see which of the two it is.

(I just hope I've cooled down and spending on more than 2nd hand by then I love SC and AC!)

So maybe it already is on the disc.

I think that method is the way to go nowadays. 2nd hand and then buy the DLC. I know I'm getting used to waiting now (I used to be a launch day man, heading down the shops no matter what), it's actually quite easy to wait though and gives you time to play old stuff you missed on the cheap!
I currently busting for Riddick but will wait for a cheap one.

This gen's DLC rating system:
Broken Steel (good)
Knothole (good but buggy)
Maps (indifferent)
Horse Armour (waste of points)
NFS (utter ass)

These days saying that "GAME X FEATURES DLC!" is tantamount to saying "GAME X FEATURES GAMEPLAY AND GRAPHICS!".

By who?!
It got terrible reviews and rightly so. It took all the worst parts of the original game, stuck you in dull underground corridors and was a meagre hour and a half of frustration. It came very close to spoiling all the good memories I had of the disc game.

a) NOT just new game modes (shame on Halo Wars)
b) NOT new skins and outfits THAT ARE ALREADY ON THE F'IN DISK! (SFIV)
c) NOT a paltry offering of a couple of missions (Saints 2)
I WILL buy it if it is:
a) Substantial and game enhancing extra gameplay (Broken Steel)
b) A different game mode that makes good use of the existing engine (Mirrors Edge - good could have been more substantial though)
c) Decently crafted maps for multiplayer (Halo 3)
** Gotta love that the words 'Horse Armour' have become commonplace - without that, and the outrage against it - we'd probably still be getting a lot more horse armour style DLC!
