Assassin's Creed out now for iPhone

Altair of this pun eventually. Six quid.

The iPhone and iPod Touch version of Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles has gone on sale for GBP 5.99 / USD 9.99.

It's available on the iTunes App Store right now, and weighs in at around 140MB.

We tried downloading it this morning for a quick go, but our not-at-all-jailbroken iPhone evidently needs a firmware update to run it, so beware of that.

According to Ubisoft and developer Gameloft, the iPhone version is a spruced-up version of the DS game of the same name.

Check out our Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles iPhone gallery to see how it looks.

I quite liked it on DS, and it looked quite nice on my N95 as well. Certainly worth a go, if you fancy a portable Creed. Which this is.

It's not bad actually. Voice acting is heinous, but controls are pretty good once you get used to the sensitivity.

£4 would be more like it.

Cracking value when you think about it. £6 for a superior version of the DS game which currently costs £25 on Play.com.

    IGN Review. 8.3/10

Moments like this are why Eurogamer is great

I might give this a try.

Anyone thinking of getting Silent Scope for the iPhone should forget it, the framerate is terrible and the controls just don't work very well. The sooner Apple start mandating demos on the App Store the better. MGS Touch is the better game although that's not saying much. If you want a good shooter get Wolfenstein.

As photoboy mentioned Silent Scope, and to avoid it definitely, get Wild West Guns if you want a touch shooter, stunning little game and an excellent conversion. Fits the phone perfectly.
