EA to rehash NBA Street

Volume 2

Despite poor sales and a canned Cube conversion, NBA Street is to make another appearance under the EA Sports BIG label, in the unusually named NBA Street Volume 2.

Vol.2 is due out in the US this spring across PS2, Xbox and Cube, and despite its street stylings will be heavily bedecked with gloss and starry varnish. 150 NBA stars past and present, to be exact, will be appearing in Vol.2 - we've heard of Magic Johnson, but other examples include Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Walton, Jerry West, George "Iceman" Gervin, and "Pistol" Pete Maravich.

As with the first game, the quest for street ball dominance means plenty of first-to-21 games of three-on-three, as you create a baller and work him up to the quality of his infamous colleagues. New moves include "pass out" and "off the heezay" (one or perhaps both of which mean to play the ball off a backboard or opponent's head), and like staff fave NBA Courtside 2002 on the Cube, players can use the left stick to move and the right stick to pass. Typically monster slam dunks will be the order of the day, in locations ranging from New York to Oakland.

NBA Street Volume 2 is being developed by NuFX, Inc. in collaboration with EA Canada. There's no word on a European release date yet, but expect to wait a few months before we see anything.
