So the cards actually have complete NES games on them which are emulated on the GBA? Coooooooool! Except for one thing - price $4.95. Translate to European prices - £44.95. Possibly. :-)

Nah, Nintendo's been quite fair with their prices recently, take Smash Bros Melee, decent game, decent price.

Hmm it's almost like the good old Mastertronic days with pricing like that...

I think it is cool that there are some interesting new ideas coming through. This card reading/cheap games thing, Sony's slightly mental webcam input interface (tried it at GameOn - bit clunky but very addictive), console/handheld links, managed internet gaming...

Not that they will all work or be successful but it's a nice counterpoint to the bitter taste of endless crappy formulaic copycat FPS's or MMOLRPG's etc..

Just wait until they release the GBA add-on screen thingy so we can play Game&Watch Donkey Kong and Green House in their full glory. ;)

Dont know why, but this reminds me of the awful barcode battler from the early 90s.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Japanese kids invading supermarkets & scanning everything in sight. Some obscure brand of instant noodles became a brand leader overnight when they discovered its bar code gave you some super-robot or something.

I wonder how much the noodle company paid 'em for that privilege. ;)

i wonder if you can just print off the barcodes rather than spending £5 on a pack of 4, and some games require you to swipe all 4 cards in before you can play which could get annoying.

The article above dosent state if its a barcode or magnetic stripe. I doubt it will be a barcode, to easy to copy as you suggested.
And checking IGN its not a barcode.

I'm not sure what they're calling it, but you can see for yourself. It's another one of those proprietary sytems Nintendo made up. I think it holds some small amount of data in the K's.

2k of data per card, which is why you need about 5 cards to get the names working on it.

Every day my piss-take idea of Bagatelle Advance comes closer to reality.
