ArmA II demo marches online
Tanks for the memories.
Bohemia and 505 have popped a demo up for ArmA II on the game's official website.
In it, you'll be able to poke around the fictional post-Soviet state of Chernarus and the Chernarussian island of Utes. The tutorial boot camp missions are available, and the full single-player Trial by Fire level awaits once skills are up to scratch.
Tire of that, and the multiplayer map Mini Warfare is open to sample, with a choice of 20 vehicles, 25 weapons and various civilian and soldier models.
There's lots more in the full game, however, which we reviewed recently and thoroughly recommend.

So can someone clarify for me, is this the one that's by the developers of Operation Flashpoint, and hence it's spiritual sequel? Or is Flashpoint II actually by the oroignal development team?

I fancy this, but from my short time with ArmA I found I was rubbish at it. Hopefully I'm better at games now. Doubt it though

There is talk of a 360 version, but I'm not aware of any port in development yet. I guess if enough people express an interest somehow, it'll become more of a priority.

It's worth keeping an eye on the BIS mod forums, some very talented modders, scripters and mission makers often come out with terrific stuff.

Also I understand this demo is a later build than the v1.02 patched retail version so AA is enabled as an in-game option. How annoying that a demo has an extra feature the full game doesn't!!!

In the the sigle player campaign there are a few big bugs that need squishing very soon though, its not made it unplayable, but its come quite close on occasion.
Multiplayer on the otherhand works great.
