APB minimum specs revealed

2Ghz, 2GB, 20GB, 7800.

Realtime Worlds has revealed the minimum PC specifications you'll need to play its online crime game, APB.

You can find them on the official FAQ - or below:

  • Core 2 Duo 2Ghz or equivalent
  • 2GB RAM (3GB for Vista64 / Windows 7 64)
  • nVidia GeForce 7800 - 256MB or equivalent
  • 20GB hard disk space

You'll need an internet connection, obviously, and a headset and mic are recommended.

APB is released on 2nd July and comes complete with 50 hours of play; after that, you'll need to pay as you go, or buy an unlimited access subscription.

There's a "Keys to the City" event offering free early access from 10th to 19th June. You might be able to get keys for that somewhere. Keep an eye out.

Tons more info at the APB gamepage.

    Is that a hint that EG will be getting some? ;)
  • Spaldy #2 2 years ago

    Of course, if you're in the southern hemisphere (such as myself) the game doesn't seem to exist at all (doesn't appear in the localised EA site or even on Steam).

    Do you come from a land down under? Where women glow and men plunder?

    ;)

    If you pre-order it from steam you can get the key to the city bonus, that will get you online early in June for 5 Hours of Action.

    I found it on steam from 3rd June and on EA Store, so it is there.

    Whatever happened to the 360 version? Was looking forward to this a lot :(
  • Boomerang #6 2 years ago

    My PC trumps all of that and the beta still runs like a dog. (a 3-legged, geriatric one). I'd double those specs if you want a smooth experience!

    * May have been fixed in the recent patches

    20 gig hard drive space? Kinnell. Still smaller than Conan I guess, but not something I'd fancy downloading.

    When I install the Beta it claims by Core2Duo 2Gig processor isnt powerful enought to play the game?
    Still lets me install it though (then starts a 7gig update download)

    I can report that the game does not work properly on a Vista 32bit laptop with 2gb of RAM and a geforce 7600go card. If you have anything less than that just forget about trying to play it :p

    (I put blame mostly on the RAM and then graphics card, CPU of 1.83Ghz Core2Duo seemed to be fine.)

    game works fine with me since latest patch dated 28 may been working fine and now doesnt even crash. that being said the combat system defo needs tweaking
  • sneetch #12 2 years ago

    Those of you in the BETA, is it any good? Would you recommend it?
  • Bravestinsane #13 2 years ago

    @Sneetch

    NDA buddy, anyone who is enjoying wont say anything as they don't want to be cut off. Anyone who does say anything will be negative and bias. Wait for a key then give it a go.
  • Alatair #14 2 years ago

    @Spekingur
    Well yes it does say that...

    And on another note, Travis looks like a proper gimp in that advert, better than the minority report one though.
  • Rubarack #15 2 years ago

    Wow, those are some brutal minimum specs.
  • Sharzam #16 2 years ago

    I think quite modest system requirments to be honest, this is a game very squarly aimed at the core gamer as some would term it. That sort of person is unlikley to be using a Geforce 7800 in there primary system. Same goes for the CPU, 2ghz dual core is nothing by modern standards.

    The only problem i can see is the ram, as for alot of games 2gb is fine but ram is the easiest and cheapest way to upgrade your system so really should be at 4gb anyway.

    I had a beta key and i was put off by the registration process to be honest it was so annoying that wouldnt take any my passwords for example why did they need to be longer than 10 letters.

    "Whatever happened to the 360 version? Was looking forward to this a lot :("

    im assuming that Microsoft wanted a cut of the subs as well as people needing to buy MS points for the gametime/items...
    on top of an xbox live gold sub.
    No facts here, just what I believe :)

    Too early. My super 64-bit gaming monster machine is not finished yet! :(
  • WinterSnowblind #19 2 years ago

    @sneetch
    Let's just say that I wouldn't bother upgrading your computer if you don't meet the requirements.
  • Spekingur #20 2 years ago

    @Alatair
    I realise what they say the minimum specs are but really, what PC owner doesn't go and try to run games on machines well below min req anyways? ;-p
  • Bander #21 2 years ago

    The beta required more RAM than that; 4GB, although some people got it to run on a bit less. I couldn't run it on 2GB.

    But then the beta didn't have any graphical settings prior to start-up, aside from maybe messing around with files without any real guides on how to do this. Presumably the final game has low-quality modes for textures, effects, models and the like.
  • Rack #22 2 years ago

    @Spekingur I certainly don't. "Minimum" requirements are normally "This machine might run the game at 15 fps in less intensive areas if you're running a clean installation, but it will look like a game from 15 years ago. I get wary if my system doesn't smash the recommended requirements.
  • obscured021 #23 2 years ago

    been playing the beta , and it dose slow down a bit, and im running a I7 920@ 4 ghz Two 295gtx's and 12 gb of ram on win7 and i have the game installed on my SSD thats all settings to max at 1080p on my tv or 1650 on my 22 inch 3d screen, my brother is running dual 480gtx's and has issues with performance some times
  • Eraysor #24 2 years ago

    It runs pretty smoothly on my 5850. Has a lot of problems with not loading higher detail textures though even when you're standing next to a car for example.
