APB isn't Realtime's only game

And it's "not that far away".

Speaking to videogaming247 at the Develop Online conference today, Realtime Worlds' Colin Macdonald revealed that the Crackdown developer is making another game alongside crime MMO All Ponts Bulletin.

"We've got a couple of projects on the go, but in terms of our next-to-market, it's APB," he said.

He also revealed that the PC and 360 MMO might get to market sooner than you'd think. "We're not that far away," he said. "Things have been going really, really well. But it's a mammoth game: what's still to be done isn't going to be done overnight."

Macdonald also promised news on the APB beta test before too long, and said that going it alone with APB and not having a boxed product - as CCP has done with EVE Online - would be "risky".

Macdonald is sat just to our left. We're going to go over there right now and badger him to let us see APB soon. Watch us.

    "not having a boxed product - as CCP has done with EVE Online"

    Er, CCP did do a box for EVE when it was first released. It's sitting on my shelf as I type this.

    And on mine too.

    I do hope the other game is Crackdown2 - the first was a fab-jous game. "You know you all want it to happen too!" This man, MrMarc, is so not wrong! LOL

    Crackdown 2 please... Its was one of the best games on 360 or anything for that matter by a mile .... Totally brilliant and under loved by halo freaks. . . It sometimes reminded me of the scene from the movie HEAT when they have the shoot out after the bank robbery. You don't notice as its happening but when the gun fire stops yours ears are left ringing and your exhausted just like your there. I was hooked on this game for 6 weeks straight ....

    Also GTA IV could have learned a few tricks from it..... Games dont have to be based on fucking stupidly huge samey grey cities. Crackdown had distinct areas. No matter what you know what area you where in and it was easy to get about far less dead time.
    It has its faults but I just want to jump tall buildings and lock on to targets in a nice uncomplicated way.... oh and that 300th orb on top of the obsevatory dome was a bastard.

    While I'm here Burnout Paradise is too big and its hard to get around even being welded inside a fast car... It just doesnt map well...
    GTA IV driving is crap (brake brake brake) but the online races are amazingly fun its mayhem for everyone...( I won one once )
    Just watched the Midnight Club Trailer surely its GTAs DLC

    @MartinScott

    reading the Crackdown hate on the Bungie forums at the time of the halo 3 beta brought a tear to my heart

    they don't deserve awesome games

  • MartinScott #12 4 years ago

    the_dudefather knows the truth.... agent
    I recommend Crackdown in my 360 BIO and every person I meet who buys a 360 I say GO BUY THIS GAME..... What is it about the games industry that even though the 360 installed base is getting bigger new buyers arent interested in quality older titles. User base goes up sales of crackdown go down. We are falling over copies of this game ... trade ins (dam halo fanboys) and so cheap on the net. I know about six guys in work who have got 360 s in the last 4 months and can i convince them to get it .... I hear all the time "got a new game on Saturday" ... what you get?..... ah Hitman..... £12 in Game second hand ....WHAT !!!! buy crackdown.... Kane and Lynch....BUY CRACKDOWN..... This game is like a classic album of our generation...I cant think of one to compare it too directly..someone will. . . .

    While I'm here again.... The album thing has me thinking ... A work mate came in two weeks ago and annouced he bought a PS3 ...not a crime in itself I have one... But he got Ridge Racer 7 and Call of Duty 3 with it... The sales assistant must still be laughing at selling him that... he'll be telling his grand kids about that one ... "I remember pissing up this wee pricks leg and I sold a PS3 too" ... The state of his games collection is a better indicator of his gamer status than what hardware he owns .... If I buy a new cd player (mp3 etc) I don't go buy Aqua and Ace of Bass to give it a workout ... If he had have come in and said I got GT5 prologue and Uncharted then I would have give him a nod and asked for his gamertag/psn id.... Dam it what CD is crackdown......
    also..... The Club is pretty cool and bargain basement ... check it out ... that one in your collection says a lot to me ... I might say lets get something to eat mate before we go out for a game of pool and drink .... Is crackdown ...Rage Against The Machine ?

    Whats with the Ace Of Base hate?
  • LeeroyJenkins #14 4 years ago

    I want this NOW. APB is easily the game I'm looking forward to the most over the next couple of years. Without a doubt. It just sounds like my dream game.
  • miiiguel #15 4 years ago

    I love Halo and was (still am) amazed with Crackdown, so it's not all like Halo fans can't enjoy other good games.
  • the_dudefather #16 4 years ago

    @miiiguel

    referring more to some fans on the bungie forums who were 'forced to buy a shit game' just so they could get into the halo 3 beta and didn't seem to bother playing crackdown
  • mazzl #17 4 years ago

    make Crackdown2 !!!!

  • monkie_king #18 4 years ago

  • louyfitz #19 4 years ago

    I too am I halo 3 AND Crackdown fan.

    anyways +1 @ LeeroyJenkins

    APB will be the fucking bollocks! end of. looks amazing, sounds like another Doom 3 for me.
